Making waves: In the hunt for invisibility, other benefits seen

Can metamaterials bend confusion out of my brain, preventing me from getting a headache reading this article? It's very interesting stuff, but Physics was never my strong point. But I like the theoretical applications of it. Tsunami resistant towns, quake proof buildings. Even an "invisibility cloak". Sometimes I just want to sneak away from public scrutiny and have a cigarette in peace, and sometimes I want to disappear whenever I make a complete idiot of myself (that's a common occurence, I should be used to it by now). But I can see people misusing invisibility cloaks. Too many people woud don one and head straight for the women's locker rooms. Urgh. These people would probably never consider using the cloaks to observe wildlife or find out whether or not their partner is really cheating on them, or if they're just paranoid.
