Last I read, it went from 30,000 to 60,000 systems over the weekend.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/03/tens-of-thousands-of-us-organizations-hit-in-ongoing-microsoft-exchange-hack/ says over 100,000 will be impacted before this ends.

It is times like this I'm so happy we don't have Microsoft servers anywhere in our company.

If you have MS-Exchange (or any complex "communications server") inside your business, two things:

Use an email gateway, always. Don't put the "communications server" directly on the internet.

and

All client systems need to use a VPN to access the communications server from outside the wired network connections inside your physical building(s). No VPN, no access. Period. Would be good to have the VPN require use of 2FA with hardware keys too, but that can be added later.

Yes, these steps are less convenient but being cracked is very inconvenient and can destroy your company too.
