"It could be sea water, fresh water. You need to carry water with you to survive anyway and the PowerTrekk needs just one spoonful," he told AFP.

How about, ahem, bodily fluids?

Joking aside, it would be pretty awesome if something powered entirely on water existed, almost seems like a perpetual motion engine... Alas you do need more than water as indicated in the article and comments in

With the widespread of high-spec smartphones, the battery market is only going to grow. Maybe a chance for Japan, although they seem to have been overtaken in lithium-Ion batteries by South Korea recently...

Looked up the specs on that PowerTrekk thing. Along with the mentioned water it uses a puck of hydrogen for the fuel cell. The puck is good for less than 1500 mAh of power @ 3.7V (what most phone batteries are)... Meaning one puck won't charge your phone to 100% even once. What a scam.

What useless tech. I have a small solar charger that's good over and over and over again without depleting hydrogen fuel source useless after 1 use.

Which means they have the tech for fuel efficient cars but the oil industry has stopped it entering the market. Thank you Mr Bush!
