16 km/h ... wow, that's quite fast!
Are the batteries Eneloop by the way?

Interesting invention. Seems a bit cumbersome to me but you never know. Lots of 'experts' laughed at Tucker back in the day but many of his ideas were adopted later on by the major automobile manufacturers.
However, I do remember all of the the hype surrounding the Segway PT before it came out. It was supposed to revolutionize personal transportation and change the world for the better, but so far it has failed to live up to it's pre-release hype.
Hopefully, this will pay off for Mr. Treadway in some way.
Tyler Vandenberg
The Segway was just too expensive about $5,000. At $629 he might do well.
on his website he has a video showing how use it without the training wheels shown in the picture above. Might be something.... a lot safer then a bike in a crowd of people ,but I think I won't buy the 1st gen. I'll wait until the 3rd.

Sounds dangerous like hell. Like a skateboard that you glued to?
BuzzB
Umm... A hand held controller. Does that include a "dead man switch" in case it is dropped? Or do you wait for the batteries to conk out after 3-5 km before you stop?

We're still waiting for the Nike "Back To The Future" shoes yet!

Hahahahahahaha! I can't stop laughing! I'm thinking about all the backwards falls and cracked heads! I remember the time my son was showing me the second generation skateboards in the 80's! Since I used to ride the first generation boards in the 60's I said. "Hey, I used to ride them back in the day!" I went down a slight incline an proceeded to attempt a good head cracking but landed on my elbows instead! Hahahaha! I'll stick to the mountain bike thank you! I love inventors! It's just people making shit up! Hahahahahaha................
The Truth Matters
Because were really getting too much exercise.

"It's very simple" - these are not going to sell...

Make it more powerful, put some armor on them and sell them to military. I can see the beginning of powered battle suits. Same goes for Segway, use tank track, make it more powerful with rocket launchers and sell it to the military.

Imagine the battery running out as you come to an embarrassing halt and have to abort mission

Treadway? Not if you're wearing these shoes, you won't !

I'll just stick with my feet, thanks. But to each his own.

Tired of walking? Of course these would be invented by an American, in America.

more like "I wanted a way capitalize on the obesity market, and at the same put more pounds on American waistlines, therefore making my product even more necessary"
