great the EU is pushing back against this disinformation narcissist, in the disguise of free speech

Elon is globally known as the "con", he only cares about making $ which is why he has caught many times lying or flip-flopped on many issues included his biz. In the US, he's accused of being a pro fascist. He lied to make $ and spreads right wing agendas. He's a danger to democracy.

X becomes the third company in as many weeks to face the European Union's wrath for violating landmark new rules

IMHO, the EU will cease to exist sooner rather than later. There are boycott against French foods, German Autos, Italian luxury....all over the world, especially Asia. The EU can make as many new rules as it wants, it's EU consumer that suffers. Any company that forces me to use single market rules products will be boycotted by me too.

The Apple NFC is just daft because competition comes from different providers on different platform, not different vendors. You can already use different cards with Apple Pay, or not use Apple Pay altogether. This is all before opening up NFC to fraud.

...and this X issue? Do the math...everyone qualify vs elites only? The previous scheme was a scam meant to serve politically driven lobby, google Matt Taibbi...

oh, forgot EU are political tools of the elites....LOL.

If you can buy so called verification it is meaningless, it is just an income generation trick to boost profits masquerading as something it isn’t. So yes it is misleading consumers.

Evidence please, and on what grounds?

large internet companies have been given a free ride but now there is a world wide backlash which in democratic countries is being reflected in a demand for greater regulation and above all accountability for their profit driven failings and malicious behaviour.

Name ONE, just one consumer group, ANYWHERE that wants X to limit verification for ELITES only. Just ONE example of consumer group that wants proprietary NFC to be opened up.

Evidence please, and on what grounds?

Plenty if you google.

X is open.

Anyone saying the opposite wants censorship.

No one should be censored about what he thinks.

Many previous commenters are just jealous of M. Musk success.

Have you been engineering reusable rocket, electric vehicles, creating a online universal way to pay, etc. ?

No one forces to read on X. Stay on CNN and big media all you want.

And if you are perfect and never fail, please cast me a stone as you usually do.

...who doesn't needa tool like the EU, LOL...

Tell me, the EU locked up ECU, enabled dieselgate, killing thousands, and you trust them when they say unlocking NFC is for your benefit?
