Who said anonymous internet validation should be free?

Who would pay their hard earned to post their thoughts on a cesspool like X?

Excellent. Go for the profit! This will have 100% of the desired effect.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

X will become Ex.

So, has anyone ever thought of the prospect that another website better than Twitter / X will spring up? I mean, why all the focus on a sinking ship?

Musk replied that the company was "moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the X system".

Clearly this will have negligible effects on bots, as the bots deployer would just pay a monthly fee and still wreck havoc with misinformation.

It would be much more effective if X would sell a package of Xeets and views for X$, eg $1 for 1000 views and 20 Xeets.

I have no issue paying for X, because communication on it is good and efficient (AND it leaves my email for personal and important stuff). But I doubt monthly is going to help Musk with bots.

They don't even let me in there, although it was announced that all old twitter accounts are reset if they were barred from access due to former political censoring of comments. I still would have to recall my own opinion and withdraw the comment after a timer countdown penalty. Go ahead cashing in, but without me. lol

If payment is required, the bots that aren't corporate sponsored will disappear. That means Russian and Chinese efforts to disrupt democracy will end.

If providing a form of payment is required, I won't have any accounts ... which isn't anything new. I have about 20 accounts, just used to screw with people/CCP/Russians. None are tied to my real name/location.

A paywall would be the beginning of the end of Xitter. It would no longer function as a global noticeboard and decline. I wonder how the other shareholders are holding up under the reign of King Elon. If you are in a position to, now would be a good time to promote your alternative service, preferably a distributed one.

Zuckerberg would love for Musk to do this!

This article is complete misinformation, but the same bad information has spread like a wild fire all over the place.

It is taking out of context what Elon actually said, in which he said the reason he was giving preference to Premium subscribers and making that a monthly payment was to combat bots, then he went on to say he was thinking about adding a lower price tier.

He never said anything about charging everyone for using the platform.

You can see the interview yourself at https://twitter.com/netanyahu/status/1703806204894498966

Go for it Musky baby, may I suggest a fee of $100............a month............lol!!

“Russian and Chinese efforts to disrupt democracy will end.”

Another one not paying attention to what’s been going on. Haha

Love watching you leftist meltdown you all once loved Twitter when your fellow comrades ran it with their CIA operatives telling them who to sensor.

Elon exposed how corrupt the Biden administration really is and the Deep state apparatus

…allowed right-wing conspiracy theorists back on the site…

So Twitter only removed right-wing commentators but left left-wing commentators to speak freely on the site before Elon Musk’s purchase. Therefore, his purchase of Twitter removed arbitrary partisan censorship. Good on him.

What a twit! But maybe he'll find a lot of other twits willing to fork over cash to a fat-cat full-of-himself billionaire.

If there is one thing that history has shown again and again it is that people on the internet absolutely love being made to pay for something they are accustomed to accessing for free.

There is no possible way I can imagine that this plan would backfire at all. Definitely this will succeed beyond his wildest dreams and I think Musk should implement it immediately.

This uber-goober-"genius" is just determined to kill the goose, isn't he?

From the buiness publishing gurus who brought you Steve Martin's "How to turn a million in real estate into $25 in cash" comes "Elon's excellent adventure: Charging money to get harassed on-line."

Look for it wherever you answer your Nigerian Prince E-mails!

Premium account should be priced at 20 dollars a month and regular account price at 10 a month which premiums account get unlimited tweets and regular account gets up to 10 free tweets and has to purchase tweets for a dollar each. Sounds good business

Your funeral, buddy. I have basically all but stopped using it anyway, almost everyone else will too.

What frustrates me about X is that every single article that is written about something using X has to tell us:

X, Formerly Known as Twitter!!!!!

We get it!

How many times are you going to write that nonsense? Probably more times than you wrote, Ye, Formerly known as Kanye West.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Instead of charging monthly fee, X (or twitter) should working on their algorthym first. I have no idea why I get lot of weird post from fanartist on my "for you" tab because I followed lot of animals related account

I hope that everyone knows there are many privacy focused communications platforms besides what "big tech" provides.

Some are centralized and others are federated. If you don't like big tech, choose federated options.

You can even host one of the federated servers on your own hardware, assuming you have an always-on computer connection. Matrix is one of the most popular federated options. Don't worry, there are public servers that regular people can connect and use for free. Riot is one client. https://matrix.org/ecosystem/clients/ has a list. Matrix isn't just text, but voice and video chat too. It can be used to connect to other "big tech" services too, for the extra nerdy. Basically, all your communications in 1 place, regardless of the service used. If you just want chat, check out "FluffyChat". Linux, iOS, and Android clients. There are other clients that support all platforms and some specialized clients that only support 1.

When people post about X, my initial though is X/Windows or X11, not some chat platform. X11 has been used by millions of people around the world for 40+ yrs. It is still popular. I use it nearly every day for 5+ hours a day. And it has nothing at all to do with formerly known Twitter. I also look out windows constantly, daily, and it has nothing at all to do with computing.

Imagine turning a popular but flawed app into something so toxic that not only will no corporation advertise on, but nobody will pay to use?

Elon Musk, real man of business genius, lol.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Adding to my previous post. I have changed my mind, he should not charge $100 a month, but $10 per minute.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Honestly why not just post and talk on websites like this one instead of the Toxic app of X
