What does he have against birds? Birds twitter, but what does an X do?

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Yup, he's purposely sabotaging this company. He planned it all along.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

The stupidest man alive just keeps topping himself.

3 ( +17 / -14 )

Musk says Twitter to change logo to X from the bird

I think people are giving Twitter the bird.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

The word twitter to quote a call consisting of repeated light tremulous sounds.

The logo defines the brand.

Musk is like a dribbling, rather backward child, with a $44 billion toy, pulling it apart he can't get it back together.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Eventually Musk will run out of ways of making himself unpopular and reducing the value of Twitter. But still some way to go yet. Good job his co-investors didn't really need all that cash.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

He purchased twitter to crash twitter. That was always his plan. X will be a new form of financial transactions company that will take place without banks or government involvement.

This has been his big dream since PAYPAL.

He will realize this dream as the time is coming.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

The stupidest man alive just keeps topping himself.

Kind of harsh don’t you think?

Do tell us what you do that pushes the world forward.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

He should change it to a picture of a toilet or drain with waste going down it.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

"X is the future state of unlimited interactivity – centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking – creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities," Yaccarino tweeted.

Amazon, PayPal and Instagram walk into a bar…

Only an NBC/Universal person could come up with a joke like this.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

If Musk connects the social network with his own cryptocurrency, then he will recoup all the money spent and come out financially positive.

-9 ( +2 / -11 )

I like that idea of X instead of a bird

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Quite progressive, changing the logo to an X will facilitate people getting used later to the "not loaded" icon after all the references to material in twitter become unavailable after Musk finishes with the company.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Changing an established and well known logo can turn into a major pitfall.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Do tell us what you do that pushes the world forward.

Narcissistic billionaires like Musk are pushing the world down, not forward.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

He just wants to get rid of all the twits that are on twitter.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

He just wants to get rid of all the twits that are on twitter

Some job.

Twitter is awash with spammers, sock puppets, ‘influencers’, conspiracy theorists and other assorted basement dwellers.

This is good though:

https://twitter.com/parody_pm/status/1683213774960881669?s=46&t=2cgM68useCIAD0Jdcn4nkQ

6 ( +8 / -2 )

Think the ‘X’ represents the guano landed on cars etc after the bird has shat….?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Musk trying to win the "I ran it into the ground" award from Trump...

He paid $25 billion and it's now worth $8 billion...

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-05-30/twitter-is-worth-33-of-musk-s-purchase-price-fidelity-says#xj4y7vzkg

More MAGA "winning".....ROFL...

4 ( +7 / -3 )

but what does an X do?

I've heard it marks the spot, but perhaps Musk heard it as "Mark's the spot".

1 ( +3 / -2 )

He can rebrand crap anyway he wants, but it's still crap!!!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Some interesting news comes out on Twitter whether or not it's a bird or an X:

https://twitter.com/R_H_Ebright/status/1682786904159182848/photo/1

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

It seems to me Musk screws up the Twitter. Most people love the bird logo. X seems nasty one. Why not XXX?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Twitter is dead. Let's face it.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

Musk flips the bird.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I told you before...ElonClown will kill Twitter..

And now the blue bird is dead..

Pathetic loser..

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

It's fitting that after tanking the company he will just replace it's logo and name with a black mark. Maybe it will help him better identify his losses on his bank statements, too.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I don't think he actually cares tbh. He did try to back out of buying it anyway. Its a plaything for him..and becoming more irrelevant day by day. In two years time it will just be a platform for the FAR right to freely voice their views.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

On a purely business level, leaving all the politics and everything out of it, it seems crazy to change the branding when your brand has literally become part of the lexicon. 'Tweet' used to be a sound a bird made. Now it's a post. What are they going to call posts on X? Exes?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Instead of "Tweets" there will now be "X's".

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So phrases like "he tweeted around midnight" will have to change to "he Xed around midnight"? Madness, best kept well away from.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I told you before...ElonClown will kill Twitter..

Actually, it was the left that ultimately killed it

And now the blue bird is dead..

Hmmm...I see a marketing ploy here...

Pathetic loser..

The world's richest man, a loser? Hardly.

-9 ( +1 / -10 )

I told you before...ElonClown will kill Twitter..

Actually, it was the left that ultimately killed it

Really? How did they do that?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

@Jimizo. At least bass has the grace to say that it IS dead.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Harry_Gatto

So phrases like "he tweeted around midnight" will have to change to "he Xed around midnight"? Madness, best kept well away from.

No, it will be "he 'X' around midnight".

4 ( +6 / -2 )

LOL! Another failure in the making.

Ironically, Mark Zuckerberg and Meta already on the rights to the 'X' logo.

Meta already appears to hold the rights to 'X.' It could make Twitter's rebrand complicated.

https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/meta-already-appears-hold-rights-204947881.html

'X' marks the spot! = Mark owns the 'X' and is owning Elon!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

From simplicity to usage and idea to an all encompassing format.

Perhaps the next step, but I believe simplicity is what drives Twitter.

X is a much more ominous symbol over a blue bird.

I certainly think X is an image and branding that doesn't convey positivity, it is the fear of AI in a letter.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

The 52-year-old Tesla founder has previously said that his rocky takeover of Twitter last year was "an accelerant to creating X, the everything app," a reference to the X.com company he founded in 1999, a later version of which went on to become PayPal, a payments giant.

Said it; Musk wants to make an American WeChat superapp. Great for data accumulation too.

Actually, it was the left that ultimately killed it

If you ascribe your nebulous and ill-defined 'left' as having so much power as to thwart the plans of the world's richest man, I think it could have only been the ghost of Scottish socialist SF author Iain Banks or some instantiation of him, come back to harry the pretender who bandies about his name so much and steals his ideas.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

If you ascribe your nebulous and ill-defined 'left' as having so much power as to thwart the plans of the world's richest man,

No, but when it involves one of the larger and powerful working overtime to stifle, limit or block freedom of speech and all your 1st amendment rights as a conservative then by all means you can irrefutably claim so.

I think it could have only been the ghost of Scottish socialist SF author Iain Banks or some instantiation of him, come back to harry the pretender who bandies about his name so much and steals his ideas.

Come again??

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Come again??

Perfect.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/05/elon-musks-twitter-plans-may-take-inspiration-from-chinese-super-apps.html

It only surprises Musk's rightist, capitalist-adoring supporters that his goal was to create a data mining, payment, and supervised content feed app like China's WeChat out of Twitter.

Too bad they thought he was buying Twitter to liberate their "freedoms" of expression and that of their Dear Leader.

Dear Elon,

You cannot make a superapp named 'X' (WeChat clone) to steal and control everyone's personal information when another app already own's the name. You just keep winning!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It only surprises Musk's rightist, capitalist-adoring supporters that his goal was to create a data mining, payment, and supervised content feed app like China's WeChat out of Twitter.

I see, so in other words, Twitter should be a platform that should be free and an open platform for leftist rants to work on silencing conservative speech, Now that the company is in the ends an entrepreneur that wants the platform to be open-minded and free to be allowed to say whatever you shouldn't charge a fee to make it a more profitable company, why hate Capitalism so much? Weird.....

Too bad they thought he was buying Twitter to liberate their "freedoms" of expression and that of their Dear Leader.

He has done that as well, I'm not blocked anymore.

x.com takes me to Twitter sign-in

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What happened to all the Elon evangelicals talking about what a business genius he is?

Maybe they finally realize that a narcissist who fires 75% of the staff and stiffs his vendors isn't a visionary. He's an incompetent buffoon.

Much like their other hero.

Kind of frustrating to have to use PayPal Japan for transactions with this Yen rate and it will not allow the use of American credit cards and banks.

Will X be the same hassle?

Invalid CSRF. What is this message?

Surely the best letter replacement would be Y

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Musk, the man who bought Twitter and founded free speech, will now replace the bird with a sign that can be used to depict many funny things. It's his money to blow it however he sees fit. The more spectacularly the better especially since he didn't do it for the money. While pandering for 8$ for the blue mark. He is a genius after all. The X fits perfectly. It goes with space X and who knows maybe change Teslas logo too it will be easier to recognize as they all are washed down that sink he purchased a while back. Maybe he can create his own digital currency so we can all buy it and get rich. He seems stable and very trust worthy I'm sure he'd guarantee it's value. I mean look at Twitter that's working fairly uneventful.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

X will be the platform that can deliver, well... everything

Can it deliver profits?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I think Mr Musk has become unwell and in panic mode. He was rather popular a few years ago you see. The last few years he’s made many provocative statements and said things that have upset many immensely.

His current behaviour whilst running Twitter seems irrational, i wonder if the chap is having some kind of breakdown.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

His current behaviour whilst running Twitter seems irrational, i wonder if the chap is having some kind of breakdown.

You’re probably right, he should quit Twitter and start a new company, maybe a battery car or building rockets to launch satellites, the space station, the Moon and then Mars. Or maybe start a new satellite internet service. Or maybe start a a new company that helps disabled with brain implants.

yeah, he should stop running Twitter.

You don't need to believe it, I'm just telling you what happened to me on Twitter.

Nothing to do with enjoying, and by the way, it's "über"

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I told you before...ElonClown will kill Twitter..

Actually, it was the left that ultimately killed it

There is an old truism in business that "the customer is always right" People in business forget or neglect this at their peril. It has nothing at all to do with free speech or any of the other nonsense trotted out. The customers of Twitter didn't want violent, racist, misogynist and homophobic content on the platform they used, often to showcase their own businesses. Much as an editorial board at a newspaper or magazine edits content and doesn't publish certain letters to the editor Twitter has every right to moderate content as it wishes. However the moderating policy has to be sensitive to their customer or risk losing them. Mr. Musk was not just insensitive to his customer base but appears to have knowingly gone out of his way to offend them. Now he has lost his customers, and his advertisers. Nobody to blame but Elon Musk.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Now he has lost his customers, and his advertisers. Nobody to blame but Elon Musk.

Not entirely, don't throw dirt on his body just yet, I know the left is eager to sing the guy's swan song, but it wouldn't be the first time the left got ahead over their skis.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Not entirely

Yes entirely. Do you not believe in personal responsibility? As the guy at the top of Twitter, is he not responsible for it? Does the buck not stop at him?

don't throw dirt on his body just yet

Elon is going nowhere - he's one of the most successful people on the planet. Twitter on the other hand... Elon already threw piles of dirt on Twitter himself, now the question is whether it can be dug out or not.

You obviously adore Musk and will enjoy it.

And umlaut shaming, nice try.

I could copy paste, do some HTML Unicode but I am just a lazy leftist and I am not a billionaire who lives on untaxed stock options like Musk who can lose 50 billion in a week.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Yes entirely. Do you not believe in personal responsibility?

I also believe Twitter wouldn’t be where it’s at if they wouldn’t have tried to silence free speech and conservatives in particular, so it’s not so nuanced, you are partially right, but let’s not discount how we got to this point.

> Elon is going nowhere - he's one of the most successful people on the planet. Twitter on the other hand... Elon already threw piles of dirt on Twitter himself, now the question is whether it can be dug out or not.

We shall see.

Twitter didn't try to silence free speech. If anything, Elon has ramped up censorship on Twitter, but before Musk, Twitter didn't target conservatives.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Elon Musk is an incredibly smart guy - Even smart guys make mistakes. Bill Gates didn't buy Google (for example) He made a mistake buying Twitter. Period. He didn't want it, but his ego took over and was left with no choice. Twitter did not silence any free speech, they silenced far right, and far left nonsense, including wildly damaging conspiracy theories about many things. That's it. Conspiracy theories belong on the dark web away from 90% of the population who for some bizarre reason buy into this nonsense. That's NOT free speech. There is a difference @bass. That's how dangerous people come to power.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

BTW Elon tried to rename PayPal to X-PayPal. What is it with this idiot?

Heh, next you'll be quoting Fox News.

Trustable news sources only please. No extremist fake-news media thank you.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Conspiracy theories belong on the dark web away from 90% of the population who for some bizarre reason buy into this nonsense. That's NOT free speech.

What is it then? Actually sounds like free speech to me, since it is your opinion on something. And remember what happened during the pandemic with the control of information by governments and organisations in working in tandem with social media companies?

Governments and social media companies should NEVER be allowed to define what free speech is.

I also have a feeling that this post, and possibly your one will be deleted by JT for violating some vague "off topic" rule that can not be challenged, nor questioned. Free speech, indeed.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Governments and social media companies should NEVER be allowed to define what free speech is.

Freedom of speech is a legal construct by which people cannot be prosecuted for their speech. It is a legal construct. Legal constructs are implemented by the government. Freedom of speech not only is defined by the government, it cannot be defined any other way, as there is no context for it without government.

It's amazing how many people use their freedom of speech to show they don't even know what it is.

Twitter didn't try to silence free speech.

https://nypost.com/2022/12/08/suppression-of-right-wing-users-exposed-in-latest-twitter-files/

The interesting thing is, the Twitter files didn't contain anything about suppression of right wing users.

Twitter didn't target conservatives.

None of these are examples of Twitter targeting conservatives.

So nothing. Thought so.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

What is it then? Actually sounds like free speech to me, since it is your opinion on something. And remember what happened during the pandemic with the control of information by governments and organisations in working in tandem with social media companies?

No - please enlighten me.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I also believe Twitter wouldn’t be where it’s at if ....

.....musk was not forced to buy Twitter (and it's no longer Twitter). Remember, he never wanted to buy it in the first place. The courts forced him to do so because he is very thin skinned.

Actually, it was the left that ultimately killed it

So? It's not my 44 billion. That's Musk's loss he made for himself

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Twitter didn't try to silence free speech.

So the Twitter execs perjured themselves in Congress during the hearings….

No she didn't catch him lying. If you actually read what it says:

"@laurenboebert tweeted 1/9/2021 (see below) and the tweet received a civil integrity label from automation..."

So, he didn't do anything. The tweet was flagged by an automated process, which also shows that it wasn't targeted at any individuals.

Again. A nothing-burger.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I’m German

Me too

So the Twitter execs perjured themselves in Congress during the hearings….

Is that a legal fact? Remember there is legal fact vs what Tucker says on Fox. Tucker is not a judge. Tucker is a Fox personality.

Well, then Musk didn’t need to buy it then, why the liberal outrage?

Wrong! He needed to buy it. He was legally forced to buy it. Musk bought Twitter due to the court order. That is a legal fact.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

No she didn't catch him lying.

She did, watch the video where he got tongue-tied when she put his own words on display

Gotcha moment.

No, no, no no. He didn't admit to anything, because he didn't do anything. Her Tweet was flagged by an automated process. Read the text!

This sounds about as ridiculous as when I went back and forth with my dad about him accusing me of stealing some of his cigarettes to sell to my friend a long time ago....I really did so I lied...ha. I mean so what? If it's a lie (or not) does it mean anything?
