Isn't this report around 24 hours too late?

Better change the name to something other than Docomo…

Maybe Huawei can help

Can somebody tell me what the red feather is for? These people are constantly decorating their suits but I have no idea what a feathers or several buttons actually represent? I’m guessing it’s a peacock thing.

Have you tried rebooting?
I heard it could help regain 4g
Jim
Glitches in technology can be expected as it’s part and parcel of life. Living without internet or cellphones for a few hours could be a blessing in disguise…lol ! But NTT Docomo should have had the decency to inform customers about this as many of us didn’t know what the hell was happening! Better yet compensate all users with a few yen credit to their accounts as a form of apology!

Japan needs to get with it. 3G still got Docomo.

Been loving free Rakuten for 1 year. Bought a new Iphone with the savings, had some change left over for a weekend in Hakone.
So far, only 1 outage for about 2 hours for 10 months of use . The 5G network (while still uncommon) is the real deal, so fast.

Frank Ellis. You may find that amusing. Many many older people who still have fliptops still use it. Will not be turned off for a few years yet, as we do have a inordinate of senior citizens here who have no reason to switch to a smartphone.
As pointed out above, we are VERY lucky with the coverage in Japan in general. Take Tokyo out of the equation to realise that.

For now. Rakuten is building their own network to be independent of olden days company like Docomo.

NTT = No Telephone Today
Mark
And by the way, I am switching to Rakuten as soon as I can, cheaper, better and not as arrogant as NTT.
So Sayonara NTT

I noticed this yesterday, my Internet stopped working.
ian
Gwylly,
Glad you still have connection even if spotty. Phone and internet now so indespensable it feels like an arm an a leg has been cut off when we dont have connection and no idea when we'll have it back

I've heard internet infra in other advanced economies are way ahead of Japan's but I have no complaints about it so far either.
But only because I'm not using docomo.
It's really hell having communications cut off.
That's why I feel for Mark's situation as he shared with his post right below yours.
ian
Mark,
So sorry to hear about your experience.
My young one goes home from school by oneself and I also dread having communications to be cut off like that.
I'm a rakuten user btw, using it free since March or April.
Had an outage also sometime ago but I wasn't much affected because of the timing

That’s the real and generalized problem behind with that new digital ‘religion’. In case of any bigger error, the majority or even all of the digital communication stops completely, while in analog life the majority or even all of paper letters with hanko or the faxes still reach their addressees. lol

Oh no, they must be shaking in their boots.

"Maybe Huawei can help"
That really cracked me up!
All-in-all, Japan is really great. I can't remember the last time we even had a power outage (even though I know that there are areas hit by natural disasters that have them). Compared to other countries, we have it pretty good here, I think.

For those on Rakuten, the bulk of their network piggybacks in Docomo. Their 5G stations are their own only and many less that Docomo. My 5G phone is fine, older iphones/androids / fliptops are affected. Might want to educate yourself Mark. Or just a case of 'Big Telecom' bashing?

Iijmio was down for several hours last weekend, too. Also on the Docomo network. Data worked but couldn't make calls. Had to use Skype!
Mark
This was one one of the worst events , I lost total access to the internet for over 5 and half hours with NO Wi Fi near me, could not communicate with family members, and no messages from NTT what so ever.
I was left in the dark for about 3 hours until I got home and got my Wi Fi. the kids also lost connection and we could not pick them up from schools not knowing if the are ready or not.
Shame on you NTT.
Frank Ellis
Does 3G even exist anymore? Lol!
Yrral
Nobody own the internet, you connect directly into the internet,if you had access to a internet trunk
