Too little to late after they blocked VPN use which meant you had to choose between entertainment or security when away from your 'safe' home network. This is their solution for when you are away from home. So now you need to download BEFORE you go out? Great, so you need to guess what you might be feeling like watching later instead of just choosing at that time. We dropped Netflix after they wholesale blocked VPN so you couldn't even use VPN while accessing Netflix in your own area and then raised their prices. Kodi is your friend and you can keep using your VPN security! Oh yeah, and it's free. Go figure.

Offline viewing has worked with Netflix for years. It is called their DVD subscription.
If you travel and want to watch offline, seems this would be a good option. Their DVD collection is probably 20x larger than what they stream online and those titles don't "disappear" at the end of a random month.

Do they have a DVD offering in Japan? I didn' think they did.

Ah, but Netflix doesn't have The Grand Tour or Ripper Street... my reasons for getting Amazon prime. There's nothing I would bother about with Netflix.

The Marvel stuff alone keeps me on Netflix.
