Meh ... I don't feel comfortable uploading my life story and every small detail to a social website.

I just wanted a simple way to let everyone I know back in my home country how I am getting on here, share a few photos, some amusing anecdotes, etc, which is just what Facebook did when I joined a few years ago. But Facebook seems intent on forcing any changes it makes on even those who won't use them, nor have any desire for them. This new Timeline thing - they'll say that you have to change as they can't support both platforms, but being as it wasn't rolled out in one go (some people have switched to it, others are holding out before having it forced upon them), they clearly can.

Any cries of "if it ain't broke..." fall on deaf ears.

Facebook has become a monster.

Facebook should be shut down.

Boycott it if you are smart.

If Mark Zukerberg is such a genius, let him develop an app that knows everything about me already, to spare me the time and trouble of having to post it. Actually I think he's probably already developed such a thing, but his attorneys have dissuaded him from proceeding -- for good reason.

There is a popular book titled "The Facebook Effect" where the author had extensive access regarding Facebook operations and even access to some of it's top brass including Zuckerberg himself. The author claims that Mark viewed FB much like Microsoft, just as the vast majority of all computer programmers build their software around MS platform which guarantees MS dominance in software (and profits), Mark wants all social users to build their life around Facebook to ensure Facebook's status as the #1 social media. The "Timeline" is akin to Windows for Facebook! NOTE: Microsoft owns a minor (2-3%) stake in Facebook.
