"I understand people's skepticism," Google senior vice president of devices Rick Osterloh said at company's campus in Mountain View, California.

It surely doesn't seem he does, it is not about broken promises but about people not being interested on those promises from the beginning. Forcing AI and its doubtful applications (that most people don't really care about) into the phone means that other companies that are focused on giving better performance, camera, battery, price, etc. are going to more easily convince people to switch to their offers.

At this point the only people that seem exited about including AI into everything are those that are doing it and tech analysts that review them, the rest of the people don't feel things like being able to find a file more easily sometimes is worth the extra amount of money and battery power required.

Are you sure about that? I've been using AI to assist with coding in my job for at least 2 years now, it's not new, it's only news to the mass population courtesy of ChatGPT. Similarly, Adobe has had AI features in its software suit also for a number of years now. then there's Siri...

IMHO, of all the AI implementation, Google is 'probably' the most trustworthy (I hope).
