Love my ps4, but I'm really turned off with both companies new marketing plans. They've developed plans similar to Apple: release a decent, but half-finished product, and 6 months+ later let's introduce an updated version. Now I understand how technology works, and sometimes companies don't have the capability, but it's clearly all a racket.

Love Sony and their playstation, but I think I'm going back to PC gaming and will avoid the next-gen roll out.

They finally listed it on Amazon Japan, but the official amazon price is nearly 49,000 yen when the official Sony announcement said 45,000 yen.

Word on the web is the Xbox Scoropio is is much powerful than this and plays 4K Blu Rays. I think Xbox will get some of the market share back with the Scorpio vs. Pro battle. Well.... everywhere, but Japan.

Rightsided: I went back to PC this year because of underpowered consoles and now this half-gen nonsense. It's glorious. I won't have to worry about scorpio now that MS exclusives are all coming to PC now. I am on the fence about the PS4 Pro. I will wait and see how PS VR turns out, a much cheaper alternative to the 120,000 yen the Vive commands in Japan.

The biggest omission in PS4 Pro is the Ultra Bluray Drive.

PS4 version was suppose to showcase 4K bluray and make it mainstream, just like what PS2 did to DVD discs and what PS3 did to Bluray.

Perhaps, for gaming, the 4K HDR format with be a big hit. (Sports and live broadcasts as well) but for film...

There is no doubt that 4K HDR has amazing resolution and looks great, but for movies it simply does not look right. What's missing is the 'grain' we have become accustomed to from years of watching actual film projection. Perhaps those who just toddlers now will view 4K HDR as normal, but for those of us who are old enough will likely never think so. Well, at least I will not.

We have a Sony 65" 4K and our Blu-ray discs look great, and I like the idea of a PlayStation with 4K but as we mostly watch movies on our system, I doubt we will upgrade to HDR. Now my grandsons on the other hand...

And do not forget: Sony & Panasonic have already announced 8K broadcasts of the 2020 Olympics. Perhaps the PlayStation 5 will be 8K...?

Get the PS4 now (before it's all replaced by the Slim) or wait for the Neo/Pro.

No reason to go for the Slim - it's not much more smaller than the current PS4; they didn't upgrade anything not even 4K (in fact, they took off some features).

Word on the web is the Xbox Scoropio is is much powerful than this and plays 4K Blu Rays.

The Xbox One Slim already plays 4K Blu-Rays.

It's 4K Gaming that's going to be added for the Xbox Scorpio - that's why it has to be so powerful. Even neither of the new PS4 Slim or Pro could do that (heck, PS4 Pro won't even support 4K Blu-Ray)
