I'm surprised they think it's still worthwhile making full-frame cameras.

Not a fan of mirrorless, but I guess it will become dominant on the market from now on...

I'm surprised they think it's still worthwhile making full-frame cameras.

Why wouldn't it be ?

Too late buddies. Modernity and more mentally elastic makers have already taken the lead into it. Mirrorless is the future. The only reason to use and older reflex is specific optics (not for long) and a longer lasting battery. New Nikon Z is ugly and it shows the fundamental disinterest toward its technology.

A big sensor (full-frame) is going to be better than a small sensor, especially at low light. Hence the demand for full frame.

With millions of lenses out there, its a big step for Nikon to introduce a camera with a new mount. The old ones will work with the pictured adapter, but you don't get the size and weight advantages of mirrorless by using them. To get them, you have to buy the new mirrorless lenses.

At 440,000 yen for the mirrorless body, there'll still be lot's of people buying full frame DSLRs for half the price for the forseable future. I won't be trading mine in until the price drops significantly, although I'm sure I will one day.

You get what you pay for. Full-frame cameras of half the price won't be up to the same specs. And Nikon is already apologizing to buyers of its about-to-be-released mirrorless camera for what will be delivery delays caused by massive demand.

The question should be why they are still making full-frame cameras..

...so someone is surprised that 'they think it's still worthwhile' and another poster comes with a counter question as he/she probably has no clue either .... :)
