Every kid and their mothers have a Nintendo 3DS. I don't see how they were ever close to losing money even with a previously strong yen.

DeNA has a flawed business model with their "download our app store app"... you can't complete against google and apple for an alternative app store.
Nintendo should have partnered with Line.

Nintendo might've been cool way back. But real "gamers" do X-box / PS4. For nintendo, its an upward battle to market their products beyond the age of 10.
