If you come into my house to do business, you follow my rules - it should be no different from Facebook. Easy to blame them for the problems but who really knows whats going on in these start-ups, i.e bad product, crappy management or employees, no plan, etc etc etc..

if your putting all your eggs into one basket then your business strategy is already flawed. If your success relies completely on one type of deployment then your just asking for it

Sounds very much like that .com time about 20 years ago.

OK but it seems that the complain is that Facebook keeps changing the rules.

Photoman - In the end, it's their house. Granted its probably not the best of policies that Facebook changes the rules, but these small app developers can't dictate to facebook how to run its own business. cwhite has a good point that if these companies are soley relying on facebook then its an issue already.

if FB was invested in competing apps and, once their app went live, pulled the plug on competitor's apps by tweaking the rules then the justice department would probably show an interest. But, as somebody who was happy to stop getting Farmville notifications, I can appriciate where FB keeps the spam to a minimum. It is in their interest to do so. They are not the sugar daddy for the other start ups.
