The safety committee is filled with company insiders, including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Chairman Bret Taylor, and four OpenAI technical and policy experts. It also includes board members Adam D’Angelo, who’s the CEO of Quora, and Nicole Seligman, a former Sony general counsel.

A bunch of corporate and legal types instead of the actual team of research scientists they had.

OpenAI co-founder and chief scientist Ilya Sutskever also resigned, and the company disbanded the “superalignment” team focused on AI risks that they jointly led.

Not a good sign for the future of AI alignment and gives credence to the claims that a proto-AGI has been developed internally at Open AI and some of the capabilities gave Ilya Sutskever pause.

It is like a SF tale playing out before our eyes.

AI safety in any company only amounts to “we don’t eant to get sued” cases where AI might say or create offensive, and sometimes illegal, content.

Other than that, nobody cares.

The San Francisco startup said in a blog post Tuesday that the committee will advise the full board on “critical safety and security decisions" for its projects and operations.

What's tge pount uf the board simply ignore any advice, as happened recently when Altman was fired.

OpenAI is rotten from the head. Microsoft? Trustworthy? Really?
