A race would have a clear and known course to go and a goal. What all those wannabe nano-Einsteins do is a blind random walk in a dark forest. You don't even need an AI to easily know that they cannot succeed and present something that's near AI and working properly, because that is mathematically impossible right from beginning. And that beginning was btw in the late 40's and 50's of last century, hopefully giving you a clue why that 'technology' has slept widely unattended for a bunch of good reasons.

It seems you have the contrary obsession, more against my comments and more pro AI. lol OK, that's great and still much better than not thinking about such topics and disputing them. I can't write so much here, maybe we should discuss this in more details over a good beer or two elsewhere. For today only on the examples you named. Chess is not a useful task and 'AI' can only win it because it follows a simple algorithm, of course a completely human programmed one, on a virtually bigger board and then eliminating the draws that are illegal. This is not AI and even many toy chess computers can stand against most players. The same or similar for your 'advancements like deep learning, neural networks, and quantum computing'. I mean, where are they, the advancements and useful practical applications that are not only hyped but really work properly and consistently? There are none, yet, and there only won't be, which I would like to add. Translations, well, that's more an art and also possibly with gifted humans and good dictionaries. No average people and of course also AI can outperform those few human talents who are professionals and artists when producing a good translation. Remains something you haven't named bur other people who contradict with me, new molecular substances, in biomedicine and materials research. And also those have nothing to do with AI, but are simply only reshuffling attempts, based on combinatorics, a partial discipline in numerical mathematics. I guess you understand it too, when making the big and very costly effort of playing all combinations in a lottery then you catch also all possible winning combinations, getting all small prizes and the jackpot, but only at costs of putting more in than getting out. Summed up, AI is a fiction and I bet all-in that it also very highly probable all remains what's it now, a totally overhyped, unrealistic and never properly working fiction.
