A robotic suit that reads brain signals and helps people with mobility problems will be available to rent in Japan for 220,000 yen a month starting Friday

Two big problems right there. In regard to the latter, well it's out of reach for your average Tanaka and Satomi isn't it. And that kind of money is roughly the same as one foreign nurse/carer, who is capable of helping many people. The greying is already at what one in five over 70 or something. Affordable, reliable technology ain't gonna make it on time. Foreign staff grudgingly accepted at snail pace.

No normal salaryman could afford that though

Didn't they copy this idea from the movie "Aliens?" Unoriginal Japanese, lol.

Haha... Oh, Japan. Why do I get the feeling that given a few months, reports will come pouring in about these things going berserk and absconding with people?

"Oh no! These are the wrong trousers!"

They have been watching too many movies. HAL - 2001 Cyberdyne - The Terminator

I'd dare say there are not many handicapped people who can afford 220,000yen a month. I'd also be interested to know how they came up with that figure.

Yeah, imagine if one of those arm or leg pieces suddenly decides to bend the other way. Ouch.

I can see these at the Super Market next to the motorized carts.

I think I might pay 220,000 yen just to see one of these in action. Ha!

Robocop is not far behind... soon the J-cops won't have to fear sticks and stones thrown by crazy naked British moat-divers!

I don't know why this product is being publicized before the military get their hands on it first. Japan still has lots to learn from the United States.

Seriously? They are calling the company Cyberdyne, as in the evil fictional robotics company in the Terminator movies.

True, both Hal, and Cyberdyne were killer computers. Note to self, don't lead rebel army in future. Just in case of time travel.

As if the Japanese would care if the caused the end of humanity, right?
