Beside, Samsung isn't trying to fix the screen, but seal the gap between hinges since there were only two instances of the screen going dud.

They'll have to do much more than that ;-).

Beside to marketing fail...let's see:

The hinge looks like it won't tolerate being sat on, ie no putting away in back pocket;

It looks like it doesn't or can't have an IP rating of any kind;

The polymer film top layer is not as scratch proof as a glass top layer;

IMHO, either Samsung has to educate its Fold customers about the novel weaknesses of their novel new phone, or it'll have to be back to the drawing board.

For $1,980 you can buy a laptop and an android tablet as Galaxy is an Android device anyhow.

Samsung will never sell the folding Galaxy. It will fail to operate properly in the long term. So Samsung has given up hope of cashing on new technology.

Nobody buying this tech actually needs it. They'll buy anything that's dangled out in front of their faces.

Hard to fathom, after the Note 7 debacle, that they wouldn't have found these issues in QA. Or did the nearly 8 years of development time skip that step? Lol. Samsungs are the worst. I hated Android for the longest time because of them, but now I quite like the Pixel. Android ain't bad at all anymore.

You have to say Samsung really did a very poor job here. Very unprofessional IMO. They just rushed this out with little testing and now they have to pay that price. I suppose they just wanted to be 1st, but far better to make a quality product.

I for one am amazed at the hype created over a folding phone. Sure its interesting but it seems so many people are head over heals over it just because it folds! But they forget they will loose a lot

Its double the price of an the top phones

You loose waterproofing

You lose pocketability (it will be quite thick on todays standards)

You lose a strong screen (not only because it folds but the hinge design means there will be a gap. If pressure is put on this .... who knows what will happen?)

A folding screen just won't last as long as a normal phone

There were some screen issues (in the past week) that have not been explained .... = huge question marks

I am sure some people will buy this, but I am not going near it

I will be very interested how this phone will be in say 6 months of us and what guarantee it will have

How about dual screens? Have one primarily for mobile functions we do everyday and both screens on for reading an E-book in a more traditional manner. If the DS 15 years ago had dual screens, we can surely make a modern full screen dual screen on both sides.

@Sh1mon M4sada

The polymer film top layer is not as scratch proof as a glass top layer;

This is why the protector film is replaceable, not by end users of course.

@Chop Chop

Samsung will never sell the folding Galaxy.

New launch date is June 13 for the US.

The Galaxy Fold might now launch in Korea first instead.

@juminRhee

How about dual screens?

LG tried that and went nowhere.

Doesnt matter its South Korea, meanwhile Norway have this !

The P2 Xcursion is designed to be not only affordable, but also to have an unusually roomy cockpit that can carry two people plus a generous amount of luggage. Instead of floats, it uses a fuselage that is self-buoyant and float wings that also provide greater stability. The blended fuselage with a retractable undercarriage is streamlined and the canopy and airfoils reduce drag.

In terms of the numbers, the P2 Xcursion with its composite construction weighs only 750 kg (1,653 lb), yet can carry a payload of 240 kg (529 lb). It has a maximum cruising speed of 130 knots (150 mph, 241 km/h), and a maximum range of 845 nm (972 mi, 1,565 km).

@Kenji Fujimori

For $1,980 you can buy a laptop and an android tablet as Galaxy is an Android device anyhow.

You can't fold your laptop and tablet in half and pocket it with you.

Even the reviewers who broke the screen via brute forceful protector film admit the device was highly addictive, makes you want to keep using it.

Beside, Samsung isn't trying to fix the screen, but seal the gap between hinges since there were only two instances of the screen going dud.
