Yawn. Where's the innovation, Samsung?

-13 ( +9 / -22 )

Yawn. Where's your precious Sony?

0 ( +12 / -12 )

At the event:

"What if we could record sound while taking pictures? How great an experience would that be?" Shin asked the packed crowd.

Ummm, yeah, I was just waiting for a phone that can record sound while taking pictures. Wait, it already does. It's called video.

-2 ( +10 / -12 )

Where's the innovation, Samsung?

Right here:

The S 4 comes with several new technologies intended to help users interact with the phone. For instance, the screen now senses fingers hovering just above the screen, and some applications react. The Mail application shows the first few lines of an email when a finger hovers above it in the list, and the Gallery application shows an expanded thumbnail. Users can control some other applications by making gestures in the air above the phone. In the browser, you can command the screen to scroll up by swiping from top to bottom a few inches from the phone. The Camera application can now use both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, inserting a small picture of the user even as he is capturing the scene in front of him. When several S 4s are in close proximity, they can link up to play the same music, simultaneously - perfect for headphone dance parties.

iCrap users can only have wet dreams about such features on their iPhones.

Oh yes, wait for Apple to release exactly the same features 2 years later, with huge fanfare, as invented by them. Then they'll sue everybody and their grandmothers for patents.

3 ( +16 / -13 )

As expected; it has all the features to put it in top place in the smartphone race.

But damn it looks ugly. Never liked the blob style look on phones, and the plastic on Galaxy phones always feels cheap to me.

Just hope some of the other manufacturers can bring out compete with this monster. Would love similar specs in a decent looking phone

6 ( +9 / -3 )

@afanofjapan That's when the custom cases come into the play. :)

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

A great phone, I'm just disappointed by its design. They could have called it the S3s . But do you use your phone as an accessory or as a device, if you want to hang it around your neck look somewhere else, if you want the latest high tech look here.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

one year on and... IT LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME.

and again, built with cheap materials. samsung, THE INNOVATOR!

/s

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

Looks good but also looks very easy to break that screen

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Samsung didn’t say what the phone will cost, but it can be expected to start at $200 with a two-year contract in the U.S.

Sungsung has always made goods copies to very attractive price, but for $ 200 dollars is better to buy the original APPLE.

-4 ( +6 / -10 )

I'd get the new HTC One instead of this ugly lump of plastic.

But the S4 will sell to fans who prefer to read the spec page and buy because 8 cores are more than 4. 13 Megapixels is more than 8 (the HTC One went for quality over MP).

The HTC One is a subtle crafted smartphone that balances features with style.

But fAndroids don't do subtle.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

@2020hindsights

Why don't you get the new Sony Xperia? I guess your precious Japanese phones aren't good anymore?

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

Readers, cut out the bickering.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@ issa - good for you, enjoying your made-in-china i-phone. I and many others will look into this new Samsung, hopfully it's priced OK .

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Sounds like a great phone! I wish softbank would carry it...

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I don't understand why people still buy third-rate sansumg goods. Your screen scratches easily, design is a crap, the battery discharges quickly. APPLE uses high quality materials, retina screen does not scratch and design is beautiful. And one thing I hate about samsung is trying to brainwash advertising across the Internet, mainly on youtube.

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

@issa1 I lol'd at your "high quality materials". I guess you don't realize that most if not all of their components are made in China. Moreover, Apple's retina screens are supplied by both Samsung and LG.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

Gorilla Glass on the new Samsungs - Same as on Sony's upmarket TV's. Going to have to go some way to seriously damage it. Bought the 3, love it. Will buy the 4. Nothing wrong with the iphone4/5 - just all seems a bit basic now..and slow processor wise. Apple are going to have to do something very special with their next phone or the battle will be lost for good. Those who have iphones are unlikely to change to a Galaxy but Apple will run out of new customers, which WILL be a problem for them.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

@issa1 I lol'd at your "high quality materials". I guess you don't realize that most if not all of their components are made in China. Moreover, Apple's retina screens are supplied by both Samsung and LG.

Yes and the case is cheap plastic.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

issa1Mar. 15, 2013 - 11:57AM JST

I don't understand why people still buy third-rate sansumg goods. ... APPLE uses high quality materials,

Well, lets see who makes the ipod/ipad parts:

Processor: Samsung

Memory: Samsung

Storage: Toshiba/Samsung (same factory)

Display: Sharp, Samsung, LG

You can't say crapple uses good parts while Samsung uses low quality ones if both products use a significant number of the same parts, and the remainder is built by the same company.

Fact of the matter is that Samsung has legitimately good phones with good parts, and the S4 is just another step in improving their brand. Perhaps it wasn't the biggest step up from the SIII, but it is nevertheless a good step in the right direction.

theResidentMar. 15, 2013 - 12:21PM JST

Nothing wrong with the iphone4

Well, unless you don't use the phone as a phone, the entire antenna problem was nowhere near nothing, especially considering the other phones on the market (including galaxy s/sII) had no such issues.

2 ( +9 / -7 )

He said high quality materials, not parts.

Samsung: Plastic

Apple: Aluminum

The iPhone 4 had no such issues in Japan.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

For once, I've got agree with basroil. crApple iSheep are hating on the S4 because the iPhone stopped showing any real innovation years ago. (Much less innovation that actually works. iMaps? Or should I say, iLost? Siri was hardly innovative. It was old tech bought from DARPA. Microsoft came out with tablets years before the first iPad. It just wasn't pretty enough to catch on at the time.). And as for sturdiness, I'd hardly call the iPhone a bastion of strength and durability. Even the back is made of glass that scratches and shatters! At least with a plastic back, you get a reduction in weight, a little added durability, not to mention the obvious advantage of being able to swap out batteries (though the new Samsungs last impressively long for smartphones). Build quality on the Samsungs is definitely not something to be scoffed at. Hope they roll out the eye-motion control to other Samsung devices via firmware updates soon.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

@basroil: haha :) I'm a galaxy user too..just trying to placate the isheep!

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

I have an S3, and it's great.

The only thing I wish they would sort out is the S-voice in Japan= it doesn't exist here.

My friend has an iPhone 5 and it looks like a dinky toy, with it's dumb tiny screen.

Apple contends Samsung has been trying to do it by stealing its ideas

Yeah, right. Apple never does stuff like that...

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

Probie, they've gotten rid of Google voice and incorporated it into the Google Now software.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

And one thing I hate about samsung is trying to brainwash advertising across the Internet, mainly on youtube.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha (breathe) Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

And Apple don't???????????

APPLE uses high quality materials, retina screen does not scratch

Yeah? Give yours to me for 10 seconds and I'll put that statement to the test.

and design is beautiful.

The designs in the same old dull Apple design.

He said high quality materials, not parts. Samsung: Plastic; Apple: Aluminum

Great, enjoy your easy to scratch, easy to bend out of shape aluminum.

-1 ( +6 / -7 )

@Magnet

Probie, they've gotten rid of Google voice and incorporated it into the Google Now software.

I'm not talking about Google voice/Google now. I'm talking about S-voice.

I have Google Now on my Nexus7, and all it does is let me do search by talking, nothing else.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

LOL. JT comments never fail. I own both Samsung and Apple devices and let me tell what the difference is. Apple uses metal finish and looks more industrial. Upside is that it's the best lookng phone. Downfall is that it's far more prone to damage and broken screens. Samsung phones have smoother edges and uses more plastic. Upside is that it's far more durable survives drops far better and easier to handle. Downside is that the plastic looks and feels cheaper. The screens are both gorilla glass or equivalent. Another big advantage to Android's including Samsungs are that the batteries are removable. That means you can carry extra and oversized batteries. If you use phone for work where you can't afford to be low on battery, this is a clutch feature. As for OS, I use Android for productivity, iOS for games and entertainment apps. For children and older people an iOS is easier to use and have better games and such. Frankly I am not a child and appreciate ability to customize my own features on my ICS OS. As for screen, unless you have child hands a 4 to 5 inch (sweet spot) HD amoled screen is a thing of beauty. S4 will have the by far the best screen on the market at least until we see what Samsung screen the next iphone will be sporting. Same goes for the processor, memory, camera, etc.. Samsung played their hand well and next move is Apple's.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

The fact Samsung sells everywhere in the world except Japan says more about Japan than Samsung. Going by the derisive comments even in this thread, this isn't surprising.

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

I have an Iphone 4s here and I liked what I saw about the S4. The design is a little 'meh' but Samsung is trying to keep all of their Galaxy devices looking the same. What I really like about this phone is when the Japan edition comes out it will have an IR blaster!! HOW many non-Japan centric phones, let alone smartphones, have come out with this feature? Personally I'm just going to hold out and wait for the Galaxy note 3.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

@melonbarmonster I wouldn't say that Samsung is a victim of Korean-bashing in Japan's mobile space despite the more colorful comments in the article. Samsung came to the party really late with a device that had to be redesigned to meet Docomo and Au specs. By the time they entered the market they had to compete with Fujitsu, NEC, Sony, and Sharp who already had products that fit the Japanese consumers and were accustomed to dealing with AU and Docomo.

Samsung: Plastic

Apple: Aluminum

Small fall ontop of a steel ball:

Samsung: Bounces

Apple: Clunk-tang (now you see a big dent)

Aluminum is the cheapest but possibly most widely used metal around, and there's a thousand types of plastics from cheap chinese toy quality to run it over with a fully loaded 18 wheeler and watch it be fine lego type enpla. Saying one is better than the other without discussing the pros and cons to each, in the method they would be used, is a clear showing of irrational hatred brought about by ignorance.

When it comes to taking a fall and not destroying the screen, plastic is the way to go.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Reviews over the web are mixed. CNN called it "toy-like" feel. Others praise the 12cm display. Most said it looks and feel cheap. And the innovations are more flashy than functional. As said before by analysts, innovation currently means improvement, not real inventions. Personally I think it's way too big and ugly, it makes a person look un-refined.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Unrefined? The compared to the Galaxy series (all of them) the iPhone looks like something Fisher Price came up with! The bigger screen is there for enhanced functionality, not just to look pretty.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

melonbarmonsterMar. 15, 2013 - 02:05PM JST

The fact Samsung sells everywhere in the world except Japan says more about Japan than Samsung.

Samsung has been selling phones in Japan for a long time, and the Galaxy series in Japan since three years ago. The Note II is surprisingly popular, as was the Galaxy Tab 10

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

I used to have an iPhone. Got a Note 2 now. No chance in hell I'll ever settle for an iPhone ever again. Most useless paperweight I've ever owned (especially after the iOS updates (planned obsolescence activators)

I guess build quality comes into it as well. The S4 'feels' cheap. The iPhone 5 and the HTC One 'feel' fantastic.

When it comes to taking a fall and not destroying the screen, plastic is the way to go.

True.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

interesting!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Basroil,

For once I agree with you!

the entire antenna problem was nowhere near nothing

Exactly!

The so called iPhone antenna problem was nothing!

A lot of hot air.

I had one and there was no problem with the antenna at all!

This new Samsung looks ghastly. Cheapo plastic and horribly bulky design.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

So does is use Android still? Have they managed to make it scroll smoothly yet?

That's what I care about.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Samsung's gonna hafta do more than just refresh their stuff when Apple rolls out its next jewel.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Samsung doesn't know how to design phones. S4 is still using ugly "Pebbles" look. And it's still using super Amoled display which annoys me due to those bluish/greenish tint on the whites. I am more impressed with the Sony Xperia Z and HTC ONE.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Even the rave sites say that you won't get through a whole day without recharging.

So, make sure you carry an adaptor with you, Galaxy S4 buyers!

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Why everybody buy Galaxy if Xperia has much more power?

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

The amazing design and portable size makes the iPhone a perfect phone for the fashion conscious woman, real men on the other hand don't give a rats axx about design and look at the specs and innovation and buy a galaxy or HTC. Nuff said

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

hkitagawaMar. 15, 2013 - 08:43PM JST

Why everybody buy Galaxy if Xperia has much more power?

8 core chip at 1.6gh not more powerful than a very similar chip running just 4 cores at 1.5? I know this article is seriously lacking in content, but at least try looking at reputable sites before saying that.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

I'll be getting the S4. Seriously to the people mentionning HTC One. Really? The Sony Xperia is wayyyy better than that piece of crap made in Taiwan let alone comparing those to Apple.

Never buying a HTC product until they can prove to me they have build quality. Their past phones were embarrassments.

Now if Nokia will grab my heart once more.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Bottom line: this competition between Apple and Samsung is very good. They must both innovate and keep prices reasonable to maintain competitiveness. Just hoping a third credible player enters soon the dance.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I really don't understand the people who brag about their pretty little iPhone's design and look. Yet 95% of them have ugly looking cheap plastic cases covering their delicate glass phones. Even funnier, they can't even swap out the batteries nor the SD cards for adding more memory. Samsung might be plastic but there's a good reason why they insist on plastic. It will cost less for buyers, and they can carry around extra batteries and extra memory that iPhone users can't do. Outside look is less important than functionality.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

John Master I lol'd at your "high quality materials". I guess you don't realize that most if not all of their components are made in China. Moreover, Apple's retina screens are supplied by both Samsung and LG.

You are wrong. Iphone 5 screens are supplied by Sharp, who use IGZO technology.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

The apple user's comments here makellaugh, no really. Those of you who are bad mouthing the Galaxy have probably only, held one for a few minutes. I HAVE two... the S and S2 they have been dropped so many times I can't count... I have two kids who love them.... four and thirteen years old image what has happened to my phones. And yes both are still working great. Not a scratch on either screen, I don't know where that falsehood comes from. I skipped the S3 to wait for the S4.... and yeaaa bady, I'm gonna get it. Keep drooling haters. I can't wait.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

8 core chip at 1.6gh not more powerful than a very similar chip running just 4 cores at 1.5? I know this article is seriously lacking in content, but at least try looking at reputable sites before saying that.

only 4 cores are activated at a time. To be exact, it has 2 quad-core CPUs, 1 high power and 1 low power. Which one is activated depends on the load.

Anyway, I'm laughing watching the debate. A proud owner of Lumia 920 :D

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Yet 95% of them have ugly looking cheap plastic cases covering their delicate glass phones.

You must be a galapagos (flip-phone) user. =You need to put a case on these things. If you have a tablet it should be in a case or folder. You people using these scratched-up phones, tablets drive me nuts. First thing I do is buy a case, maybe with the external battery built-in.

The phone market is getting sweeter with Samsung's strong move to 5" (Galaxy Note II 5.5")

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

OK sorry about the typos in my last post... drinking and typing isn't illegal yet. The Galaxy has one weakness, water. But I can say that I dropped my S2 in a Japanese style toilet... and it went in the water.... I watched in horror as the screen died... while I made the decision to rescue it... I took it and wrapped it in paper and took it home took out the battery, SD and SIM card. Wrapped everything in paper again, filled a Ziploc sandwich bag half full of dry rice and left it there for 3 days. During that time I called and had a replacement sent out. After I got the replacement I took the old one out of the rice put everything back together and .... it Powered UP! The SD was dead but the phone worked fine. I KEPT it for 4 days so I could backup all my data.... GALAXY BABY.... keep hating... we will keep buying them. Live in your box world free of viruses... OOOPS, that's right you have the same troubles as those who live outside the box. But we choose what we download and what sites we use... keep hating... We know it is just Android envy.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

You are wrong. Iphone 5 screens are supplied by Sharp, who use IGZO technology.

No you are wrong. iPhone 5's screens are made by three companies, Sharp, Japan Display, and LG. Out of the three, LG is the biggest supplier of iPhone 5 screens, after Apple dropped Samsung as one of their suppliers. Apple recently cut huge production orders from Sharp and Japan Display, yet still kept LG's orders still relatively intact. I wonder why?

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

You must be a galapagos (flip-phone) user. =You need to put a case on these things.

Actually I'm not a flip phone user. My point was, what's the big deal of having a pretty looking phone (like the iPhone), when you're going to end up encasing them with cheap plastic anyway? I'm asking this to all the people who say the Galaxy S4 is ugly cheap plastic, and not as pretty as the iPhone.

-2 ( +4 / -6 )

The CEO of Samsung should fall down to his knees and worship Steve Jobs's Picture EVERY SINGLE DAY OF HIS LIFE, because if Steve Jobs of APPLE never invented and introducted the iPhone to THE WORLD, then Samsung would still be stuck in the Flat Screen TV Market getting their butts consistantly kicked by Sony.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

chucky3176, totally agree with you about the cases. Not only do they defeat the purpose of having a pretty phone, but some of them are downright awful (best looking one I've seen is the Element Ronin, which to me looks a whole lot like the Note 2 flip case, without the flip cover. The worst one, well, there are many, but the bunny ear one takes the cake IMHO). Rubber bunny ears on a phone?!? Are you kidding me? Who was it that said Samsungs looked cheap and made their users look unrefined?

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Saketown, The CEO of Samsung should fall down to his knees and worship Steve Jobs's Picture EVERY SINGLE DAY OF HIS LIFE, because if Steve Jobs of APPLE never invented and introducted the iPhone to THE WORLD, then Samsung would still be stuck in the Flat Screen TV Market getting their butts consistantly kicked by Sony.

This is the pattern samsung to make business. I remember the first cell phones samsung launched in Japan at 1997.it was hard to explain which one was the original

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

issa1, I think you're just sore because the Korean electronics companies are kicking the pants off the Japanese ones. Do you notice anybody talking about Sony Xperia smartphones, or Sony smart TV? Nope. Sony is becoming a joke. Japan should really respect their competitors if they want to compete, instead of looking down on their noses arrogantly, while companies like Samsung eat their lunch.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

Apple has to at least match the specs on their next iPhone. Back when iPhone was ahead on specs, among others they always emphasized the specs and called 'em innovations.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sony Xperia is a 2nd to 3rd rate phone behind Apple, Samsung, HTC and Nokia's flagships especially with Google jumping into the market with their own hardware. The screen is horrible, design neutral and power adequate.

i would say the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the standout, with iPhone 5, Sony Xperia Z, and Samsung Galaxy S3 following. Nokia, HTC are the 2nd tier with the Nexus having a questionable past.

HTC products are trash. Xperia actually functions. If you've seen previous htc products, you would know their build quality is inferior. HTC was bragging about burst shot on a phone and how everybody started copying them.

Those idiots never created burstshot and Sony and Samsung had it in their products before. Arrogance backed up by nothing. My confidence in consumer electronics is anything but HTC. Sony, Apple, Samsung, Nokia, LG are all great manufacturers. Their name brand comes hand in hand with quality.

You obviously haven't seen the new HTC One. The reviews are raving about the build quality:

Sony Xperia hasn't even released yet and you want to compare it to phones that have been out for good part of the year and yet it's still running slower than Note 2. THe screen is also dimmer and crappier than all the old phones!??? And I'm not a fan of HTC but not liking the brand is not the same as comparing specific products. Xperia isn't even in the same league as HTC One and now the S4.

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Sony Xperia Z: Water resistant, super Sexy design, bright Display, whites are PURE white.

HTC ONE: Beautiful metallic finish, stereo audio, ultrapixel Camera.

Apple Iphone 5: Just the best phone

Samsung Galaxy S4: Same boring plastic finish, same Ugly pebbles design, sooooo many gimmicky software that users won't even use for everyday life, very annoying GREENISH/BLUISH tint on the whites.

By the way Samsung makes very bad Commercials.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Samsung make bad commercials? Never seen anything from any other smartphone manufacturer that's nearly half as witty or entertaining. Your argument of "Just the best phone" is typical of most Apple worshipers. Who cares about what it can and can't do, specs, etc vs. other phones. It's just the best. Because the Church of Apple said so. The argument about gimmicky software that users won't use? That argument was once used to defend Apple and it's Appstore, which now inhabits the smaller end of the app market spectrum shared with Google Play. Green/bluish tint on whites? Never seen it, though I have seen a very strong purple haze in iPhone captured photos.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

I just love samsung fanatics and their defensive statements. Thank you badsey3. On your first link, the reviewer on the video EMPHASIZED how UGLY the BLUISH/GREENISH tint on Samsung phones. Plasticky, Ugly design, and gimmicky softwares are just few of many reasons why many are disappointed with the new s4.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

There are Samsung so-called fanatics, Apple iSheep, and then there are those who just care about good high quality tech. Out of the 3, only one has earned a reputation for blind obedience to a certain company. I'll give you a hint. Fruits.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

For the record, I've got an HTC, a Galaxy Note 2, and an iPhone. Guess which one is currently being used as a paperweight.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

yawn, this site is very predictable. Android fans point out the weakness in apple products when apple do something and when the boots on the other foot - Apple fan boys point out how cheap Samsung products feel and how they lack the ....the degree of fit and finish been applied to a phone...the exquisite chamfer surrounding the display. A crystalline diamond cuts this beveled edge. Its what gives iPhone 5 its distinctive lines. Fitting for a phone so brilliant

*quote in italics is lifted straight from Apple's own website. boy what marketing and language.

S4 - not a radical overhaul but they are improving and adding new features. Running 4.2 is great. I just wish we could the Nexus 4 in Japan. Pure android is best.

You can keep you exquisite chamfer, and I'll play on a Full HD screen, swooshing my finger over my superior swype keyboard, following directions on better maps, cutting time by using my home-screen widgets and my powerful notifications bar. If it makes you feel any better - I'll cry in my sleep at the cheap and plasticy-ness of it all.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Htc one; great phone, well made, with one shortcoming...its battery, which is too small and not removable. S4 ; great phone, bland looking, but it's complete, with a big removable battery, and sd card. Sony Z ; great phone, but Sony has a bad reputation when it comes to updates, and in compare to the two phones above already a bit old spec wise, but still a choice you no one can fault you for. Iphone 5; doesn't belong in this group..better wait for the 5s

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

By the way Samsung makes very bad Commercials.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWLZVX4UKkA (Yuna, Note 2, Samsung Malaysia) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oolyzj2ML8k (the video, 1st of 2 versions)

I strongly believe the commercials and supports that Samsung provides is their advantage. -Most innovative ad for a cell phone I have ever seen.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

LOL. I have owned a HTC, Samsung and use iMac for work and own the most recently purchased an ipad and iphone 4s. Go check out the professional reviews. Any dope can "review' a phone on youtube. But here's where the rubber meets the road: global phone sales. I promise you that the Xperia will sell like the clear second rate phone that it is while iPhone, Samsung enjoy their current dominance. WHat's more intriguing than Sony's attempt is HTC. HTC has fallen off the map as of late but the HTC One is actually very well designed phone. What kind of sales it will enjoy in face of heavy competition is to be seen. Sony on the other hand has a lot of catching up to do and Xperia only cements their lagger status.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

^ Sony Xperia is waterproof. Fine, it's not like you're gonna toss your water in a bucket of water but still a useful feature to have. HTC One? Quality?

I'll believe it when I see it. How can you guys praise HTC but not the Xperia? HTC products ... at least everything before the One, were garbage. Anyone praising the HTC One has never used an htc product before. I'll wait until their reputation comes hand in hand with quality.

Frankly, htc is generally seen as an inferior tech company.

@EastAsiaForeigner. 2 reasons. Xperia screen is horrible. This is a seriously huge FLAW especially when HTC One sports the highest ppi on its LCD and Samsung is putting out best screen on market with HD s. amoled screens. LG Optimus probably comes second with its IPS LCD. HTC imo is the best looking Android. Second, HTC One is better looking phone than Xperia. HTC took some chances with One's design and it works. Best looking Android on the block.

Samsung just doesn't want to face the reality that the Apple's iPhone is a much better product.

How is it that EVERYTIME Apple releases a New iPhone and suddenly its the HOTTEST thing on the market, Samsuck sudenly races to their Lawyers and start filing lawsuits against Apple?

You know why? Because they FEAR the real competition.

They can't stand being bested by a Western Company or the Japanese (Sony).

Apple makes 100 times better products than Samsuck and I did try one of those Galaxy S phones and the stupid battery dies too fast. Nothing like my iPhone 4s. I quickly went back to my 4s.

Honestly, if Sony invented the iPhone, then Samsuck would be Directing their Salvo of Lawyers at Sony.

Samsung Just Sucks...Period!

Apple makes 100 times better products than Samsuck

There's a reason Applie products are so popular and expensive, but that reason has little to do with the actual quality of the product.

See, the reality is that Apple maybe makes a 1.25 times better product than Samsung. You only think otherwise because Steve Jobs is, far and away, the greatest marketing genius of the last 20 years. He convinced an entire generation of people that they absolutely need to pay a premium for an Apple product because it is an Apple product.

Price it out for yourself. You'll pay at least 1.5 times as much for an Apple product as you will for a similarly-powerful non-apple product.

iPhone used to be the best phone by far on the market.... about 4 years ago. In large US city markets iPhones have jumped the shark as the phone for parents and grade school kids whereas the teenagers and tech savvy gravitate toward the high end Androids like Samsung's Galaxy series and previous google phones. Now iPhone and the latest Androids trade best specs like screen, processors, etc., so who has the better phone has more to do with which phone came out most recently. Right now that's Samsung S4 and will probably stay that way until Google's released their phone and the again when the next iPhone comes out.

Not sure if you're serious or not. Apple is overpriced for what their phone is offering. As for the lawsuits... lol. That's all I can say.

Saketown, I think you've got it the other way around. Apple (and it's followers) still seem to think Apple is at the top of the tech game, when in reality, the fruit has gone long past decomposition. Looks pretty? Perhaps. Functions better than most other smartphones? Absolutely not. Lwsuits? Ha! crApple sues anyone on the planet that they think has something even minutely similar to something they believe they came up with (which more than often they didn't. They just buy the patents). The only ones fearing competition are Apple and their iSheep fanbase. Innovation? Apple stopped doing that a looooooong time ago. They just manage to make their simple minded believe-anything-the-fruit-company-says iSheep BELIEVE that they are still innovating, mostly with words like "revolutionary", "ultimate", "different", etc. In actuality, very little has changed in the past 4 reincarnations of what is essentially the same product with minor improvements. Get your head out of Apple's walled garden. You might actually like what you see.

By the way, your little conspiracy theory that there is an element of national pride at play is absolutely hilarious. Samsung don't want to be bested by Western or Japanese companies? Hahahaha! That's what it's come down to has it?
