I wonder how well Japanese schools and universities are doing preparing students for jobs in IT. Designed intelligence is no longer science fiction; it's part of our everyday life today. I have no doubt AI will become increasingly important in all aspects of life, and without adequate training of young people an even larger precariat class will form here in Japan. And for that matter every other country.

Skynet? Anyone else thinking the same?

This is a potentially dangerous road we're going down. Once computers cross a purported threshold, a global pandemic of paranoia could lead to rash decision-making amongst global actors. Many things we just can't control?...will technology save humanity or destroy it? Or will we develop an ethic of responsibility and de-deification of technology?

I would like to see 〃Computers coax scientists to think like people〃

How completely stupid to replace humans when we are billions all over the world. This is a crime against humanity by all intentions and must be stopped. I live in Toronto, there are better things to do here than play lets-create-non-humans. Scientists need to get a date.

It is one thing to have "intelligence". It is another thing to have desire and motivation to do stuff. That is an aspect of human consciousness and emotion. Computers don't/can't have that. Don't worry about them taking over.
