All these people posted so much personal info over the past 15 years and Facebook just took that data and ran with it. Made billions. Literally big billions.
What were people thinking? That this great "free" site lets me "connect" with everyone. How can that be bad?
If you want to continue to be a sucker, continue to use their products. They work well but there is a cost.
Don't ask the price. Even I don't know what it is exactly but you get what you pay for.

I find it so funny. Here in Japan Line has required phone number for years and it is the most popular and used app.
Why do the Japanese prefer Line? For exactly the reason of needing to identify users if needed because it has cut down abusive behaviour permits identifying stalkers, etc...
The Japanese are less worried about false fear of government, or corporate data collection and more focused on the real and factual dangers of unstable people, bullying, stalking.
