Today  07:22 am JST “ I used to play video games. Then I went through puberty. “

oh, you’re one of “those” ..

..

Today  07:45 am JST “ I think the last console I ever had was a Nintendo 64 when I was around 9 or 10. Then I came to the realization that most normal women are not interested in gaming freaks without a social life. “

.. outdated joke; still living in the 90,s (?)

I used to play video games. Then I went through puberty.

Now you only complain about stuff on social media and other online sites, like a total grown-up.

@Yubaru

Kissing the butt of the Merican market!

This is because all of PS5 component, assembly, and royalties are contracted in dollars.

The PlayStation since PS4 have been designed in the US by AMD, chipset fabbed by TSMC, and assembled by Foxconn. All of involved contracts are dollar denominated. Even international freight(container shipping) is denominated in dollars.

Thus while PS5's cost in terms of dollar hasn't risen, its price in other currency has risen due to strong dollar. That's why.

I’m sorry that puberty made you boring.

I think the last console I ever had was a Nintendo 64 when I was around 9 or 10. Then I came to the realization that most normal women are not interested in gaming freaks without a social life.

More women play video games than men.

I still play my PS4, but I am unable to access the online stuff for some reason

I am having the same trouble. As long as the PS5 remains tough to buy, Sony will keep putting out PS4 games.

Currency trends? So are they going to drop the price when Yen becomes stronger later? Fat hope. Just excuses.

I used to watch sports until I realized that most women don’t like shlubby men who drink cheap beer and eat wings in a football bar, use all their brain power on memorizing stats that will be irrelevant in mere months and have one story about how they nearly made a touchdown in high school and if only they hadn’t tripped maybe they could have gone pro.

It’s just sad that the Japanese have to pay more for their own products! For example, I was surprised to find the price of Sony TV more in Japan compared to Australia and the UK. Yes, yes they have extra features in Japan but these are simply unnecessary functions which doesn’t contribute to better picture quality or sound at all!

I am sure soon people at the games division in Sony will wonder why people just went towards nintendo, mobile or stream...

The PS5 is just the door Sony has to be able to sell games and other media to people, not doing anything to stop scalpers from making the PS5 scarce was bad enough, but increasing the price is like asking people to take their business elsewhere.

Sounds about right, every thing else in Japan is more expensive than in other countries.

before the yen tanked, it was much cheaper to buy certain goods from Amazon USA and pay the import shipping prices, and it STILL was cheaper than buying it from Amazon Japan, WITH free shipping.

ridiculous.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Hah meanwhile there is a lawsuit in Europe for charging too much for the console.

The thing is, Japanese people dont do research and look at the imported options. It's too mendokusai. They have the money, so they just buy whatever they have in Japan, however much it is. So sellers just increase prices, and people still will buy

U.S. consumers will be spared from the hikes, Ryan said, without providing further explanation.

This will anger customers outside of the US and make Sony a "disliked" supplier. Playing favorites in the US while most others pay higher prices, are they subsidizing the US cost?

No mention of other nations spared an price rise letting all anger flow to the US and Sony. Although the US consumer is not at fault, they get an unfair bonus for no apparent reason.

A Sony "fail"!

Best thing Sony has done for me is to let the PS5 be gone from the stores, I am much happier with my steam account lol

I've not bothered with consoles since the xbox 360/PS3 days as most games end up being released on the PC at the same time or a short while later. I don't waste money just for the increasingly fewer 'console only' games that are released these days.

That’s already called a price hike? Wait until you’ve seen the price of the flagship Walkman digital music player. You can let play a whole band only for you a full week long. lol

It's an unnecessary Luxury, and soon, with the Global recession beginning to bite, Sales of Luxury items will drop.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

...means nothing to me, because IF I do buy it's usually after the first couple of years of hype but no titles. You wait a couple years, price is more reasonable and there's more titles, or at least the update to the games you like is more stable.

Kissing the butt of the Merican market!

This is why I am hoping game streaming platforms like xbox cloud or stadia get better. I am a casual gamer that wants to play only specific titles and doesn't want to go out and buy a new console just to play it. My ps4 has been sitting in dust for the last 3 years.

Keep it

PS5 is easily the ugliest looking console in the last 20yrs. Hope they sort their design ideas out for a slim edition. Even then ¥50K is too steep for me.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

It's still the cheapest in Japan at least in nominal terms. In purchasing power adjusted price though...

Simple, a law suit will be filled the very next day.
