"not even Aldous Huxley or George Orwell could have imagined," he warned."
Huxley was actually Orwell teacher for a time and i think both of them could and did imagine such things.

I am no fan of FB - google is useful. surprised he didn't mention Twitter and the rest too. not sure the wisdom of age is a plus in commenting on new tech. as for BTC, I agree it is bubble and pretty useless.

Just someone trying to make himself seem important to people who have never heard of him... like me :)

This is just revenge because FB and Twitter didn't play along with Feinstein and Adam Schiff's "demonize Russia some more" porn.....oops...plan.

George himself is getting on and his days are numbered!
Facebook is of no interest that me, I don’t feel that it needs the be regulated. I just choose not to use it. Japan today is a preferred source of news for me, so Facebook doesn’t have a true monopoly, they are just big.
Google too. There are other search engines, but Google is loved.
Soros is right about bitcoin being a bubble. Not so sure about the autocrats using it but Soros probably is friends with them to know!
Obviously, like that other foolish chap who won the top Fakies award the other day, Soros was wrong about the US stock market, entirely. Stick to currencies George.
Trump will, I tend to agree, be kicked out of office, but I think people will still at least appreciate his deregulation and tax cut policies for the good they have done / will do for economic growth. Will be good if someone who doesn’t put foot in mouth appears to replace him.

Many have caught on to Soros. His days are very much numbered.

George Schwartz (Soros) said the same thing to the Jews in Poland he helped expose while he worked for the SS in his teenage years. He excuse for doing it (and I paraphrase him his statement) "If I didn't do it, someone else would have." As some posters have stated, his (Soros) days are numbered and the world will be a better place without him...

Popper was the teacher of Soros. Popper was not the best thinker ever and its calculations include many bad moral mistakes.
Nonetheless, it doesn't need to be a giant visionary to realize Gafas have become too big to not pass under america monopole law and force a scission.
The real long term question is : what will take the place of google and facebook ? Asia have -thanks to Japan then China and South Asia- a real technological software independancy, but what of the rest of the world ? We must include in our thinking that China is not a democraty and its technology is a tool against freedom of thinking and speech.
When I take the example of Europe and France, nothing was able to merge from software technology. They don't understand web technology knowledge. The old continent is fully dependant on US to anything that is computer related. I am not sure China web technology that come with gunshot political manners is safe for US or Europe to let expand.
So the real problem is that in US, Google and Facebook and Twitter is one big compagny that don't concurrence each others. And the question to answer is Why ? According to probability they made a deal not to go against each other. They went against US capitalism rules to devlop a new technology that is changing the world fast. What to do from here ?
Breaking them is leaving the world without knowledge progress. My thought is that we will have to think of new rules upon them and force them to share the world level universal search as a payback for the lost in foreign economy they cost. They forbid expansion in others countries, but too many country don't want to expand or progress. They want to keep their population undergraduated to be able to rule upon as dictators or monarchs. It is not in US intend to let enemy of democraty that will unite against her live and expand.
Well that is why nobody have broke them for now. It is a matter of world security and humanity future . The Gafas problem is too sensitive. By implementing new technology ethics rules, we should be able to slow down their progress. That is the best I have found for now.

Soros = Palpatine. In looks (see The Return Of The Jedi). And in substance.
Just saying.

the 87-year-old told diners during a speech. its actually sad when at 87 your still trying to make more money than you'll ever be able to spend, when you should be relaxing and enjoying your retirement. You cant take your wealth with you in the afterlife.

Soros may be right, but their downfall will come from the very source of their greatness and not from where he thinks if Facebook and Google do not start to realise this. Unfortunately as you get bigger exponentially, the trees soon become woods and then you stop seeing the wood for the trees as they say. That is what has happened to these two tech giants, they have become blind to reality.

Facebook, Google, Twitter and the whole lot may well be taken down by the blockchain, which enables completely decentralized versions of these, with no one center of control to corrupt and the settings controlled by each user.
This is why bitcoin is much more than money. The blockchain could give power (and privacy) back to the people.

Sounds like he just wants a slice of the pie.
