Individuality and the willingness to go out on an unsecured and unknown path is not how Japanese children are raised.
The lack of innovation starts from a young age, when children are ingrained with the idea of "group".
Hopefully with the changes in education coming down the pipeline Japan will see more people willing to step outside the box.

No matter the ideas, to make money one needs money. unfortunately that is difficult for us gaijins here in Japan.

The smart graduates dread to work for startups

One does not need much money to live happily. Creating a startup is filled with sleepless nights.

If one is doing it for the money, a startup is likely not for that person - because there will be a lot of sleepless nights when there would be no money, with the only thing sustaining him/her is one's passion and belief to what one is doing

Creating a startup is filled with sleepless nights. same can be said for anybody running their own business. I had many sleepless nights at first, but after a few years of hard work increased cash flow and steady revenue the nights arnt sleepless anymore. Actually now Im planning for a future where I can retire early my family's financial security looks great and my sleepless nights will be replaced with fun days of retirement. There nothing better than not having to answer to anybody, except my clients the taxman oh and my wife.

The problem with Japan Tech, is that they like to try stuff out here first then maybe decide later if its worth going Global... this has been the situation with most Japanese Global Companies - you buy stuff here, and soon find out that its not available anywhere else, and within the same year, has quite literally gone locally.... Its a "Suckers" market-place.

The Japanese language is a big minus for anyone trying to sell Japanese stuff out of Japan.
