As a proof-of-concept, it sounds good.
Not up to the task myself, but if the merchant and fishing fleets of the world were equipped with such devices, would it have an effect on plastic pollution in the ocean? And, doesn't most microplastic in the ocean settle toward the sea floor? Also, what is done with the microplastic once it is collected?
Desert Tortoise
A great deal of it floats near the surface, which is why the stuff turns up in their stomachs and that of fish. The stuff is very light.
