The good news is Free Taiwan can't be blackmailed over security because the US doesn't promise anything to begin with!!!

Taiwan should deeply consider their options, which are narrowing by the second as capital and the young people flee, leaving behind the elderly, a brain-drain like none other in human history. Trump's not going to interfere in internal territorial matters, no Ukraine 2.0.

Trump does as he likes regardless of who it upsets. Taiwan is a case in point.

China anger as US amends wording on Taiwan independence

Clearly Taiwan is an international issue and the only "internal" thing about it is the citizens of Taiwan and what they want for their country. China does not own Taiwan or its people no matter how often it bleats about it around the globe.

Trump is selling out Europe hard and giving his boss Putin everything it wants except Zelensky's head on a platter. Poor Ukraine and the old US allies who mean nothing to Trump. America will be loved by Russians and not many others by the time Trump finishes. Russians will love America more than the average American does.

Trump 2.0 selling out America's friends and allies around the globe. Threatening conflicts and war and initiating global trade warfare against everyone.

Not enough time in the day to convey all the horrible, idiotic and conceited things Trump and his 'Z team" are doing. The ship is sinking but the only sure thing is Trump will survive all the damage he causes to everyone else.

Number 2's float, and thats why Trump floats.

Cowardly Xi has been deterred so far.

The Republic of China/Taiwan has zero agency here. Buy billions of dollars of weapons from the USA and spend billions on chip fabs in the USA which will never be competitive in terms of performance and price to the chips manufactured in Taiwan. Next will come a tariff wall and lower sales for TSMC.

Ouch

Utter nonsense: you can be competitive in chip manufacturing without putting your workers through 80 hour weeks which is the only thing Americans won't do and rightly so.

I will take TSMC founder Morris Chang's opinion on this one.

But when President Tsai Ing-wen hosted Pelosi for lunch at a neo-baroque palace in Taipei, two men at the table were a reminder that the friendship is coming under strain: Morris Chang, founder of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, and Mark Liu, chair of the world’s largest contract chipmaker. The global semiconductor industry is now dominated by Taiwan, thanks to TSMC’s meteoric rise. Chang told Pelosi in stark terms that Washington’s efforts to rebuild chip manufacturing at home were doomed to fail.

I think grandpa may be a little bit prejudiced and/or nationalist. It is understandable.

America needs Taiwan more than Taiwan needs America. If the People’s Republic of China succeeds in expanding its territory into the south China sea, American commercial shipping will have to seek alternative routes adding prohibitive costs to American exports. Donald and Elon will have to bow their heads to Xi Jinping like they do to Putin.

The whole world should now pay attention as to how the United Trump of America treats peaceful and democratic countries in comparison to their treatment of Russia and China.

Why Washingjing only gives diplomatic recognition to Beijington but rejects having one with ally and fellow-democracy ROC-Taiwan is a warning to Europe and the rest of the world that protecting freedom and democracy is never the creed of MAGA.
