Trumps an idiot.

the headline tells you it’s a bad move.

What could possibly go wrong? Absolutely everything.
These people are out of their mind. AI could literally bring about the end of the world and these morons think complete deregulation is a good idea.
Bob Fosse
“The AI future is not going to be won by hand-wringing about safety," Vice President JD Vance told world leaders at a recent AI summit in Paris.”
We won’t need to see the real pee pee tape. AI can make one and spread it across the internet. Maybe one of jd enjoying couch time too. No need for hand wringing, it’s harmless apparently.

Makes perfect sense , the little guy is not important , only his wealthy buddies , they are gaining more and more control . Then when its too late ,it'll be wosre than China or Russia , regarding freedoms for the people
Sven Asai
AI is an overhyped illusion. It can't and won't work due its intrinsics, mathematical reasons and of course many other reasons. So no one or any side can be a winner in a so-called AI race. A race would require a race track and a defined goal, and we don't have both of these here. Finally someone tells us please, who programs, controls and operates all that in aging and shrinking populations. Just forget it, the quicker the better ending the hype and AI bubbles.

Silcon Valley moved into Trump's corner because of 4 years of regulation by enforcement under Biden Admin, resulting in very little M&A and few IPOs.
Good Reason Trump's best pal is Elon, Technology at the center of power now and DJT knows full well US Govt. is just a big dumb buyer reliant on the private tech. sector
Reality, those in Silcon Valley not 'right' or 'left' but rather want to be left alone, no Big Brother harassment, so they're fundamentally all Libertarians, who want limited Govt. to not impede or even destroy tech industry, like Elon!

Hmm. When big tech firms get development funding / tax breaks with huge amounts of money being spent and CEOs becoming fantastically richer, you have to wonder if some sensible oversight is needed. Meanwhile the competition, China, is doing it at a fraction of the cost. You can't blame the leaders of big tech. They are smart people who easily take full advantage of Trump.

Republicans institute deregulation, and then Democrats have to clean up the mess the GOP caused when they get into power.

I'm worried that it will weaken copyright laws for creative people. Already many of us have decided to stay off line and not post our stuff anymore. The world looses when that happens, imo.

Trump has put Elon Musk and tech at the center of his Administration's efforts for good reason, he wants to be on the cutting edge with AI, space, military, etc.
Why Elon's considered the most important Presidential Aide in US history according to Senator Ted Cruz.
DJT understands it's US tech. exceptionalism that's most needed for US to remain a Superpower, and why he's unleashing private sector tech. industry via deregulation.

A statement fraught with such naivety, that it defies belief it came from the # 2 bod in the free world.
Vance embarrasses himself - but of course the minions just lap it up, because they know even less.

My opinion suggestion, is differentiating between advanced predictive tech, referring to investment of machine learning to identify data learnt user online browser patterns
Using past events/browsing "clicks" to make "predictions" and the use high end so called AI.
The pertinent question here is "personal" data, privacy, this is where deregulation should be questioned.
You see little or nothing in life is free.

"Republicans institute deregulation, and then Democrats have to clean up the mess the GOP caused when they get into power."
I'm your huckleberry. Say when (Google it if you must):
Democrats institute open borders, and then Republicans have to clean up the mess the Dims caused when they get into power.

State-by-state regulations are a problem as they require each state to be processed as a different country on e-commerce systems. The US has a federal government for a reason (or at least it had). They should use it.
The EU has an insane amount of red tape and loves to levy fines as taxes to fill the coffers and make up for their financial failures. It doesn't have a lot of tech industy and is likely to have even less in the future. If it pushes hard enough it will lose GAFA and social media, breaking its own tech agenda and alienating its already grumpy electorates.
US AI companies got caught out. They went down the big spend/data centre route, despite there being no business case for such vast expenditure. AI tech coming out of China is doing things differently, keeping the costs down.
GAFA is going to have to find a much cheaper way of doing AI, as users aren't going to pay extra for it. All they have done by promoting it, is increased their own cost of staying on trend. This happens quite often in tech. It's a sort of Frankenstein's monster effect. What you thought was the next big thing leading to wealth, becomes something that you have to do and pay for, just to stay in the game.

Tech companies: No rules?!?! This is all we ever asked for!!!

For a 'Professor' he doesn't come across as very smart. Of course these Tech Titans don't want their trillion dollar investment to end up being a money trap. That's all before they get sued out of existence for hallucinating.

Despite being the only entity making headway in AI with humanoid robot and autonomous driving, Musk is the only lone voice asking for more regulations. Well looks like that $420 million he gave the Trump campaign is too little compared to other tech titans. Elon must be fuming LOL.

Trump spent the last 8 years trying to regulate the tech industry. Looks like president musk is calling the shots now.
nishikat
AI is now open source especially thanks to DeepSeek and no one can regulate it now. Even president Musk can't do anything about it. But Tesla is sinking and that does reflect on President Musk.
It's a pretty bad choice especially with the problems of the Tesla model SS.
What is President Musk good at exactly? He has exploding rockets and Tesla which is dying now
Sanjinosebleed
Geez…do ya think??
The people who are going to make the most money out of unleashing hell on the human race are strong supporters of no regulation???
Cant make this stuff up!
Follow the brown paper bags stacked with cash and they will lead straight to trumps door!
Ass
Let's go Trump! True patriots and the red blooded beating heart of America support our president!

The difference between China and the U.S when it comes to AI is that the U.S uses AI primarily to make better weapons and enrich capitalists.
China uses AI to make better products and prepare for AI driven Socialist and Communist future for mankind.
