Good to see a regional area making progress.

However, it could lead to complaints about groundwater pollution and traffic jams, locals said.

Kumamoto has a tramway - extend it.

An economic boom in Kumamoto in case you’re looking for a new home.

Draining labor from all of the other prefectures.

Man, they really need to address the traffic issue in this area.

We now have three massive fabs in the pipeline (one already built by JASM, a second one coming from JASM as per this article, plus SONY are building another one just up the road!).

The tram doesn't go out there. A JR line does, though, with a station right at the fab's doorstep, but it's a single track. Still, with feeder lines (buses), park-and-ride, and other measures, things should work out.

I would not want to drive in the area, though. It's all single-lane farm roads.

TSMC is a majority stakeholder of JASM, hence they are the core decision maker for the business.

TSMC's first plant, a wafer factory

Who researches these articles?

The company is called JASM, not TSMC.

And a "wafer" factory? That would be a company like SUMCO, not JASM!

Make sense, TSMC's needs to risk hedge, Taiwan's going the way of CCP "DODO" Bird. Real question's where will TSMC announce their new 2nd HQ?

Guessing US, likely Texas for tax purposes, say Dallas. They've surely watched $goodies Texas Govt. has handed out to Elon for Tesla, Space X, etc., real $red carpet treatment, Texas OPEN for business!

States like Cali and NY, too broke, depopulation, high taxes, crime, etc., no $goodies, just PERMANENT HIGH COST
