8K resolutions are like 3D movies.

An interesting idea, but not really marketable for mass use. Sure, we want 8K for our computing screens, but not for movies and TV. How much detail on skin pores does anyone really want?

8K just requires more internet bandwidth.

@theFu, don’t you mean the opposite? Why would anyone need 8K resolution for an excel sheet?

Anyway, even if you buy an 8K telly you are gonna struggle to find any content for it in the next few years.

He predicted 2020 would be a "tipping point" for 8K going mainstream.

Nonsense. 4K isn't yet mainstream Japan.  Only like 6 channels on cable broadcasting in 4K and you have to pay extra for most of them.  Also only a small percentage of homes actually have bandwidth speeds that allow for true 4K streaming.

Disagree on that. I have 1 GB internet which can stream 8K because sometimes I watch it. 8K stream will require a minimum of a 50 Mbps connection.

Do I want to be able to count the blades of grass on a soccer pitch?
