Tweets too short? Twitter mulling 10,000 characters

I won't have time to read everything on my list if they do this. If you want to write an essay, do that on another site and then link to it from Twitter if you want us to know about it.

Twitter is the one who taught us to say everything within 140 words. Conciseness! Also, the modern attention span is about 140 words.

I have never used twitter, is it based on characters or words...........either way I seem to be surviving albeit barely as it is LOL!

So it will be no twitting anymore but kind of serenade? Do they think of changing the name?

Alternatively they could just close it down and the world would be no worse off. Rather better, in fact.

Why not directly announce Twitter wants to be facebook ?

If they are going to allow 10000 characters why impose any limit at all? They can turn Twitter into just another blogging platform. The end is nigh.

Oh gawd no. DIarrhea of the keyboard will ensue with even worse posts than now. If they want to increase the number of characters, limit it to maybe 300. If you can't say it in 300, you need to do some rethinking. Most people couldn't possibly write 10,000 in one week let alone one post.

The 140 character limit was the main reason why I left Twitter. It was infuriatingly difficult to say anything meaningful in so few words. If this new 10,000 character limit is introduced, it's highly likely that I'll return to Twitter.

Never heard of Twitter.
