Same thing happened with elite colleges & high schools in America. Maybe they can try not being racist

Well it's a fact that it's becoming more and more difficult for Asians to get an admit from Ivy League universities because of the affirmative action policies. This obsession with diversity and other buzzwords only has a negative impact on the meritocracy that the US higher education is well known for.

"For a 'very' long time, U.S. media was racist against non-white people, now they're racist against whites & Asians," Musk wrote in a post on Twitter, where he has reinstated thousands of users banned for hate speech.

Musk has the wealth and resources given his advantages of birth to live the life of almost unlimited freedom like in the Culture novel of Iain M. Banks which he purports to love.

Where people gland drugs and can live in whatever version of the world they wish.

Musk's freewheeling ways though could be putting him on a collision course with the still present economic and cultural realities of 2023. Just like everyone else.

Let me highlight for you:

“Another senior employee, Martijn de Kuijper, tweeted on Saturday that it "looks like I'm let go" after he could no longer access his emails from a French Alps ski holiday.”

Do no evil

Hmmm... very biased report. Anyway EM's opinions -whatever you think of them - have little to do with what he is doing with Twitter. He will easily replace the leavers with fully qualified staff

researchers say hate speech has flourished at Twitter since his takeover

Is that journalism or another one of many attempt to discredit a person without basis ?

I go on Twitter and see no hate speech.

Those research simply don't exist

Don't repeat like parrots. People have gone stupid and common sense is disappearing.

And M. Musk is not known for talking rubbish but well thought analysis. Just read his past views on how correct he can see the future.

-6 ( +4 / -10 )

He's not wrong, black-on-white crime is out of control in the US and a recent poll suggested that more than half of Black-Americans dislike White people, how is that not anti-white racism? Imagine the outcry if the races were reversed. It's his right to cut of the company everyone who does not agree with the new values of the company.

And M. Musk is not known for talking rubbish but well thought analysis.

Huh? He's extremely well-known for talking quite a bit of rubbish.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

Well this is just another promise from Musk that is broken, at this point him promising something means the opposite will happen.

I go on Twitter and see no hate speech.

Those research simply don't exist

The research has been widely reported and no disqualification of their findings has been provided:

https://www.nytimes.com/2022/12/02/technology/twitter-hate-speech.html

If you think your personal experience (and specially what you say is your personal experience) is enough to disprove this you are terribly wrong.

What if someone comes and says he sees at least 10 examples of obvious hate speech a day since Musk took control of Twitter? would that prove you are mistaken? because that is the quality of evidence you are trying to use as an argument.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

It's karma that "Twitter" just happens to rhyme with the thing it's going down...

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Twitter was a cesspool of left-wing hate speech before Musk came along. It was amazing how much invective was tolerated there, as long as it was aligned with leftist causes and talking points, as well as some corporatist ones, it was a free-for-all. Now that Musk is trying to level the field somewhat, with mixed success. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. We now live in an age where people are far too quick to take offence, and instead of using reason and evidence to talk through issues, way too many people just resort to labeling anyone they disagree with as racist, ---phobe, anti---, ----denier, far-right, whatever. Highly divisive for society and it can't end well. Of course people are going to disagree over all sorts of issues, but it's getting to the point where disagreement is akin to a hate crime. This has to stop and if Elon is going to be part of the solution, I'll supoport him as long as he doesn't abuse his power.

He will easily replace the leavers with fully qualified staff

its not the staff hes got to worry about its the advertisers, and they're leaving in droves.

EM seems to forget liberals buy EVs not conservatives

Nothing makes any sense anymore. Adams said racist stuff but if we replace 'black' with 'white' in his comments he is still a racist. How does that work?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Mask has diverse employees record so how can any say he is not a nice bloke. Besides it is his company. He is pointing at the door saying tell your story walking. If you want to complain.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Nothing makes any sense anymore. Adams said racist stuff but if we replace 'black' with 'white' in his comments he is still a racist. How does that work?

Sorry. Replace white with black and he's confirming that white people are racist.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

"All he has to do is keep quiet, but he has to constantly spout stuff that alienates advertisers."

That's what they want everyone to do when faced with blatant double standards and hypocrisy. Stay silent. Tell them where to go in no uncertain terms Muskman. Fight the good fight.

This comes across as a hit piece on Musk.

I'll supoport him as long as he doesn't abuse his power.

Then you probably were not paying attention. You are several months late. He is abusing his power.

Then you probably were not paying attention. You are several months late. He is abusing his power.

No, you're just upset that he doesn't agree with you.

The previous owners were abusing their power by heavily censoring posts that offended their leftist staff and colluding with the Democrat government to censor information that embarrassed the Democrats and criticised anything to do with the official covid narrative, even when demonstrably factual.

I have nothing but admiration for Elon Musk because he's not afraid to say what he thinks. When he took over you could hear liberal screams all over the world! It was awesome!

I have nothing but admiration for Elon Musk because he's not afraid to say what he thinks.

That's not heroism. That's just Autism. He is incapable of filtering himself like a fully functional adult. Being enabled with hundreds of billions of USD isn't helping much.

No, you're just upset that he doesn't agree with you.

No, contrary to your utopian "Leftist" thing, I don't care about that.

What I DO care about is enabling anti-semites, Nazis, conspiracy whack-jobs (cough cough) and racists.

He knows what is happening. He doesn't care. Because he over-paid and is losing his shirt, so he has to appeal to the uber-goobers (and default on his debt obligations) to try to stave off bankruptsy.

This is idiot raised by a father who just fathered a child with his own daughter-in-law and who owned a precious gem mine during apartheid South Africa beliefs posting "controversial tweets" about racism is going to save his incompetence as a leader to run a tech company like Twitter.

He is obviously hemorrhaging money due to poor self-control. Some want to blame it on his autism. That is false.

Autism does not make a person stupid which is something that Elon clearly is.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

This comes across as a hit piece on Musk.

Exactly its purpose. Ever since he hasn’t been seen as hardcore leftist anymore. .

leftists just will not accept any neutral, unbiased or simply don’t care about “the current thing” positions.

That’s “alt right” too now.

richest man in the world again, btw. Thanks Tesla stock!

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

For some people, it's always about leftists or rightists. The American system is broken.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

So you were attacking him when he was thought to be on “your side” politically?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

The dude is a business owner and entrepreneur who makes me a lot of lot of money and designs things that make my life better.

why would I care about his politics or lack of?

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

why would I care about his politics or lack of?

like Disney, right?

1 ( +4 / -3 )

I don't care for Musk don't even know Dilbert comic.

But the reality is most of these anti Racist groups are racist.

I have seen BLM leaders say things about Asians in the USA, no consequences.

One of the founding members of BLM in Canada tweeted

, "Plz Allah give me strength to not cuss/kill these men and white folks out here today. Plz plz plz,"

Ban on twitter at the time? NO!

Instead the MSM have her a bigger platform to play victim saying people were focusing on her remarks to attack BLM.

YouTube everyday there are videos calling every white person named calling for "revenge" even death.

They remain up but don't try doing the reverse, instant ban for life ( no I don't support either).

A prominent lesbian leader of a LGBTQIA breakaway group said the vast majority of people that are suddenly non-binary, queer, even trans, are white mostly men.

Why not, it is a great way to avoid being constantly attacked.

" Oh you horrible"cis" man, you oppresser, criminal, etc..." (All these are use on the news regularly.)

Defense: "Sorry but I think you are mistaken, I use they them pronouns and identify as non binary" boom suddenly no longer the bad guy.

If you are white in university in Canada and the USA and identify as white male heterosexual you might as well hide in your dorm room because it will be a difficult time ( unless you are suddenly queer/non binary.

Because of the constant attacks we now have non minority (note minority in North America and Europe) trying to claim being part minority.

In the past it was pale Black people trying to claim being white now it is the reverse.

As why, why if we are so racist towards blacks would people get highly tanned and try claiming being black?

Because being white especially heterosexual male is seen as bad, it even loses you jobs and opportunities because you don't fit into a minority category.

why would I care about his politics or lack of?

> like Disney, right?

Actually no!

Musk doesn't care or censor, he doesn't produce content specifically to push an agenda.

Disney on the other hand is in the business of pushing their agenda and beliefs.

And if Musk is having problems, look at Disney stocks like their movies flops down nearly 15% in 2021 nearly 43% in 2022 and a tiny tick up in 2 months of 15% and the year is early a big drop will come unless a sudden shift.

We keep hearing about Musk and twitter going down. But in reality very few left and he is basically at the same number of users.

Oh we keep hearing the predictions of a collapse but nothing yet.

What we are seeing is Democrats in the USA, Liberals/NDP in Canada and the EU leader in Brussels now frustrated the collapse hasn't happened, so now they are trying to go after Musk personally.

"Yusra Khogali says a tweet she wrote months ago has been used to drown out and "de-legitimize" the accomplishments of the Black Lives Matter movement in Toronto. "

"Somehow a tweet I wrote out of anger months before our protest began has become a bigger media story than our protest's many and profound accomplishments," Khogali, co-founder of the Toronto chapter of Black Lives Matter, wrote in a Toronto Star column.

Didn't you claim today you weren't following me around just to comment.

Not only are you actually went through the trouble to find exactly what I was talking about and post nothing other than what I said!

You have a problem!

Are you that obsessed with me puppy?

This will pass, the facts are 212 million to 300 million ( depends on what group collected the data) daily users.

In the USA alone over 30 million daily that make over $75 thousand a year another 25 million that make between $ 30,000 and $50,000

The money is there.

It will not be difficult to replace advertising and most companies will return once this has blown over.

A 300 million audience is hard to resist
