But Musk seemed to reverse course a few hours later, writing that the policy would be limited to "suspending accounts only when that account's primary purpose is promotion of competitors."

No more "Vox Populi, Vox Dei" for Musk?

Musk is making a good example that business interests trump the voice of god and the voice of the people.

Musk seems to have abandoned his free speech ideals and the ideals of Iain Banks' Culture.

The people have spoken. Will he honor his word? His recent flip flops would prove otherwise.

Most expensive twitter argument ever. It's cost Twitter half a trillion, and Elon 50 some billion. Ouch. I can't think of a more disastrous takeover of a company ever.

What I find interesting is how much this exposed people of low intelligence, who were under the impression that because someone does well at one thing, they will be able to do well at all things. Many of those same low intelligence people were under the fake impression that Trump was qualified to be president, under this logical fallacy. Even Musk himself seems to have fallen to his ego in believing that because he'd done one thing well, he could manage Twitter well. Well, we're all seeing how that turns out.

It’s all planned. He’s close to being ousted at Tesla, if he doesn’t quit as Twitter CEO.

YES 57.5%

No 42.5%

Well Elonald, I hope you keep your promise, and be a man..

Bye bye Loser !!.. LOL !!..

Bye bye Loser !!.. LOL !!..

Look whose talking. How much money did YOU make last year? the man is the richest on the planet and you want to call him a loser? I hate him- don't get me wrong- but calling the richest man in the world a loser is just stupid.

Musk won't resign. Just more game-playing.

All the poll says is TSLA stockholders want Elon back at Tesla. As for how well it's doing, the numbers speaks for themselves, record registration of genuine users, and proof main stream media making fools out of themselves.

No wonder even search and index companies are making more advert. money than media companies.

First it was the Murdoch, then came so called main stream, then it hit aggregators as well, soon all advertising money is going to go to search and index companies, because traditional media are making themselves untrustworthy and irrelevant. Poetic...

the man is the richest on the planet and you want to call him a loser?

He's not the richest man in the world anymore - he lost that. He's lost about $100 billion in value in the past year. That's bigger loss than nearly any person in history, and one who loses is a...

Since Musk's Twitter buy out it has lost money every single day. Tesla has lost 50% of its stock value. Musk has lost billions. More than $100 billion.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

That doesn't change that he is likely to literally be the biggest loser of the year.

If by loser you simply mean that he lost money then there is no argument. Its a numbers game.

But to call him a loser as we understand the term as a failure in life is different.

I would be surprised if anyone lost more than him this year.

Probably not. But Businessmen make money and they lose money. You of all people should know that.

Musk might step down, but he will still own the company, that won’t change. Look, most of this was foreshadowed and the guy is smart, he probably picked a CEO a long time ago covering all bases. Once the individual is announced, he can go back to fixing the smaller problems with Tesla and SpaceX.

While I’m sure there is some sort of plan behind the Twitter poll, I’m not sure that he has a new CEO ready to go. Musk himself stated that yesterday and I think I believe him. The company is in a nosedive with billions in debt and very little revenue so it is hard to imagine anyone serious wanting to take over, especially knowing that they’ll have Musk hovering in the background second guessing every decision they make (likely often in public).

He still owns it. And you will probably like the next CEO even less.

Thinking he can't think of the future way ahead of us while one of his main plan has been for years to settle humans on Mars and he has made gfeat achievements towards that matter.

One can easily see the limited minds. Loving it.

advertisers have run for the hills and left Twitter squarely in the red ink potentially on track to lose roughly $4 billion per year we estimate..

These are all but advertisement platforms masquerading as social media, there is not much Tech in these firms, Musk know these, and is just playing around before he goes back to the world of real Tech.

This poster clearly missed that Musk himself was the one who asked "there [sic] opinion".

Will Musk fix FB, YT, and TT next? They seem to also be run by Liberals since they all banned Trump. Also, when will Musk stop stiffing Twitter's suppliers and landlords?

he can go back to fixing the smaller problems with Tesla and SpaceX.

Most Trump people think that Tesla was started by Musk and is a FOX hero and at the same time 99.9% of them can't even afford a Tesla. Rich people who own Teslas have additional cars and Tesla is not practical for a single car to own. GM dealers are servicing Teslas.

Tesla stock:

250.06 (-62.53%)year to date

You know that musk started the poll and vowed to abide by its decision, right? Right?

Both these posters cannot see the big picture, now why did he ask for it, does the CEO of any company asks the end consumers, should I stay or should I leave... Musk is literally challenging the capitalist system.. the ramifications are mind boggling...

musk ( small ' M ' ) is a spoilt brat who is now tired of his new toy and wants to find something new to play with, ....hence the reason that he came up with this silly vote ! He probably voted against himself so that he can hand the sinking ship over to someone else....who might just rescue it , but even if they dont it doesnt matter much when you still have 119.7 BILLION $ ...and counting ! Lol.

This fawning adoration is kind of amusing.

Accidentally destroying a company you just paid 44$ billion for because you have no idea how to run it challenging the capitalist system with mind boggling ramifications to follow.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Musk said he does not have a CEO in mind and he didn't think anyone but himself was even capable of running Twitter.

No. He’s a narcissist who bit off more than he can chew. There is no 4D chess going on here.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

The people have spoken.

Have they?

57.5 % of accounts voted for him to step down. But does each account represent a person? Maybe he did this to help identify fake accounts...

If he does step down as CEO, I hope he'll still have a say in important decisions.

Only 15 million voted.

Twitter claims to have more than 300 million members.

There is a similar scenario in the works of Iain Banks, which Musk professes to take inspiration from.

In those books AI Minds and massively enhanced agents undermine an exploitative capitalist system.

Musk does not display these characteristics with his business dealings, for example with Twitter, though some of his tech initiatives are promising.

The same people in here whining about Elon Musk owning Twitter are also the ones saying before that they don't use Twitter in the first place. Why gatekeep a site you don't even use?

That’s not a legitimate argument. You don’t need to have a personal investment in something that is hugely important to understand the concerns of others.

If I only commented on articles that directly affect or relate to me there wouldn't be many I could post on. I haven't used Twitter for more than ten years along with FB but I can still have an opinion about it. The vast majority of Twitter members do not read this site. It's just a corner in a very big world.
