Ah rats! Where are all you fascists going to congregate now?

You don't belong in my America!

The fascists are the ones doing the censoring.

2chan or 4chan of the internet?

As someone with a deep aversion of social media apps, could someone tell me what this “Parler” thingy is?

its a bit like twitter , but you can say and state anything you want regardless of its truth or accuracy. anything goes, inciting violence or racism

1 ( +4 / -3 )

Parler is a locked site, you must join to read but according to reports all members are extreme right wing many posting violent posts.

The subtle narrative based subterfuge, literally all the right is on on that platform..the extreme right is only a small fraction.. but that small fraction is the narrative and is branded as the right.

AWS plans to suspend Parler's account effective Sunday, at 11:59 p.m. PST, according to an email by an AWS Trust and Safety team to Parler seen by BuzzFeed.

That's not factual reporting.. this is not suspension but taking out Parler completely..i.e. nobody will be able to access Parler.. So now it's gone to a level where you can only host content acceptable to these left aligned firms.. In the long term this will be disastrous for these firms.. as private/public companies/governments will start moving away from these hosting/social media platforms.

America has been swamped and smothered in this hateful verbal diarrhea in the name of 'humor' or 'free speech' for nearly 30 years by these scummy radio and TV loudmouths. They are Qaddafys of the media. Sit back, spout out hatred and watch the sick drama, giggle like a little kid. Advocating violence, terrorism and violating the rights of others to live peacefully is contrary to the US Constitution, Geneva Convention, UN Charter and more. Advocating violence and hatred always leads to it because it portrays others as less than human. Look at the act of treason and insurrection inspired by America's Mussolini this past week to see a vivid example.

Seems clear to me these 3 companies are using the riot as a CHANCE to try to take out this parler.

I have never been there but just watching youtube vids on all kinds of things you hear more & MORE setting up on parler & others because even single words will get vids flagged, demonitised, cant upload etc etc

So some of these other services are starting to build up some momentum & THAT I think is why apple google amaon are doing what they are doing.

I mean why isnt Amazon shutting down its consumer goods businesses, I heard some fans of trump BUY stuff there........... so how bout it Amazon, you going to do whats ""right"" & shut yourself down........or will you still take the $$$$$

Then Parler should construct their own data center. AWS is not the government. I don't see any problem.

Sure it is. They gave Parler a way to stay on their hosting, it's up to Parler whether or not they want to make the effort to stay within those rules, or they can go find another hosting. No one has told them they are not allowed to get hosting, only a private company telling them that they can't use their services anymore.

Sort of reminds me of when cake bakers refuse to back cakes for homosexuals. The right has always said that private businesses have the choice with whom they do business.

So now it's gone to a level where you can only host content acceptable to these left aligned firms.. In the long term this will be disastrous for these firms.. as private/public companies/governments will start moving away from these hosting/social media platforms.

"The sky is falling!" Screamed Chicken Little, running around in a frenzy.

The ironic thing is, the right brought this upon themselves. They are doing everything in their power to take away indemnity for liability for the owners of these platforms for content posted on these platforms.

Currently, if someone makes a post saying "let's kill [fill in leader]", and someone reports it, the platform takes it down, and the platform does not have liability because they properly dealt with the post when brought to their attention.

With the Republican's changes that Trump has been pushing, the platform would be liable even if they deleted the post, as they become responsible for the content posted on their site.

As such, these sites have to become proactive about removing content, and getting rid of users who MAY make posts inciting violence or other illegal activities. Otherwise these people could make posts making the platform libel.

As such, getting rid of Trump and the right-wing extremists becomes not only to be expected, it becomes a requirement for these platforms to survive without being taken down for hosting illegal content.

The right is sleeping in their own bed. After years of extremist right-wing cancel culture, they ended up canceling themselves.

Schadenfreude.

Are they inciting violence and pushing illegal activities? If not, there is no reason to shut down the consumer goods business.

That's a fair point. The AWS action seems a little different from the Apple, Twitter, Google, Facebook actions.

Should AWS been seen as similar to a telephone service where the telephone company can't make decisions on who can use the service?

I'm generally on the left, and I hate Trump. But I like to see ideas out in the open.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

It's funded by the Mercer family. They are hedge fund billionaires that funded Breitbart, introduced Steve Bannon to Trump and have a large war chest to waste on this. Short term it will likely move to Epik, which hosts some deplorable stuff already. If need be there's plenty of money to move the service to Asia/Eastern Europe/Russia/etc.

Near term this will short circuit planning violence for the 20th. Longer term if they move off shore it will be harder for US law enforcement to get data on these seditionists.

Should AWS been seen as similar to a telephone service where the telephone company can't make decisions on who can use the service?

I don't think so. Mostly because you could go to Microsoft, Oracle, Google, IBM, SalesForce, etc.

But if those companies applied a similar policy? Sorry, I'm just thinking aloud, but is there some level where restrictions shouldn't be applied? I think we can all send letters by post, and make telephone calls. What about setting up a website? (OK. I can set one up in my house, but I can't control access to it.)

Never mind.  Plenty of other places to express views without being censored.  Even JT.

Will be ironic when the backlash comes and censorship cuts the other way.

Social media always was an accident waiting to happen, amplifying the worst in both individual users and the various power structures that have an interest in it

I am sure that everyone is intelligent enough to know the difference between gagging hate speech and free speech.

I am sure that everyone is intelligent enough to know the difference between gagging hate speech and free speech.

We'd hope so, but Twitter, Facebook, Google, Apple and now Amazon indicate that this isn't the case.

When they ban antics and shut down other far-left troublemakers organising riots and the like, I might change my mind.

The right is sleeping in their own bed. After years of extremist right-wing cancel culture, they ended up canceling themselves.

Cancel culture is a leftist thing.

Cancel culture is a leftist thing.

So, what's the crime? Mass shootings and terrorism is a Trump thing.

antifa can organise assaults on government buildings

Someone tell me where the FBI wanted poster is for these bad Antifa people. I can find many on the bad Trump people who just invaded the Capitol, but I can't seem to find any Antifa people wanted for bombing and destroying federal government buildings.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Somehow Trump people say the invasion of the Capitol Building (by Trump people) was somehow Hillary's fault. I checked Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Alex Jones, Franklin Graham, Kenneth Copeland, Newsmax, OANN, Tucker Carlson. They all say it was Hillary's fault. How was all this Hillary's fault? I don't understand.

Seems clear to me these 3 companies are using the riot as a CHANCE to try to suppress conservative voices. These companies can have their writes post what their views are on a given topic but they have shut down ALL BLOGGING. Unlike other countries you can still blog but not in the land of freedom of expression these companies are using this as a way of controlling voices period!

That's some serious conspiracy story stuff right there.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

That four Trump years were only a very last little intermezzo. They have now completely taken over, together with the ‘imports’ they just have gained majority for a probable very long period. In fact, the left rules more or less since ‘45 and step by step ruins everything. Why not , as a minority, simply enjoying how they now have to cost from their harvest. There is no realistic other option than that anymore.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Tell that to Kenneth Copeland - he's one of the sources.

They have now completely taken over

Because Trump was acting crazy, and the Republican party was punished. Why blame Hillary. This was 100% Trump's doing.

Cancel culture is a leftist thing.

And a right-wing thing. The righties REALLY don't like to admit that though. It exposes their blatant hypocrisy.

Don't believe me? Colin Kapernick will tell you all about it.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Cancel culture is a leftist thing.

Au contraire. The grandest example of cancel culture was the infamous Hollywood Blacklist, driven by Eugene McCarthy and his Red Scare Senate hearings. The blacklist put hundreds of actors, writers, directors and producers out of work and un-hirable, all because of often very thinly documented allegations of communist leanings on the part of those placed on the blacklist.

Oh yeah, the eight hour workday, workplace safety regulations, parental leave, anti-discrimination laws, ending racial segregation, the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Medicare and Social Security are all such horrors. I guess you want to go back to the "good old days" in the 1960s when you could stomp your cigarette out on the grocery store floor, take your belt off, fold it over and whip your kids for misbehavior (I have personally seen this btw and not just once or twice), and you could beat your wife knowing nobody would say a thing. Is that what you miss? Wonderful times they were.
