The first a tsunami of consequences for bludgeoning a cop to death inside the Capitol.

Go after the ringleaders' Google and Apple accounts, too.

I saw an interview with a woman from Parler. She has those crazy, possessed eyes of Rudy and that dreadful other lawyer woman. It's so creepy.

They have this logo for a militia march on Washington on inauguration day. The logo has crossed assault rifles.

Nothing good is going to come from this. Is that why trump is not attending the inauguration?

2 ( +8 / -6 )

They can always use the Huawei store.

5 ( +7 / -2 )

This is now at a point of no return, why not announce that left aligned folks and content are only allowed on these platforms and be done with it.

-1 ( +8 / -9 )

why not announce that left aligned folks and content are only allowed on these platforms

So you're admitting that right-aligned contents are pro-violence and pro-terrorism? Got it.

-3 ( +7 / -10 )

As long as Parler posters don't violate laws (I'm thinking about the US) let their users rant all they want. The alt right's outlets attract the 'west's' extremists plus keyboard warriors employed by governments in Moscow, Ankara, Beijing, Pyonyang and other nations trying to further undermine 'western' governments.

Let them and America's 35% fundamentalist right wingers parrot and echo their falsehoods to each other. Keeping them in their own silos makes it easier for security agencies to track them and see what they're up to.

https://www.businessinsider.com/parler-erupted-with-talk-of-revolution-as-mobs-stormed-capitol-2021-1

Maybe the security forces will be better prepared than they were when Trump's coup plotters violently attacked the capitol.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

So you're admitting that right-aligned contents are pro-violence and pro-terrorism

That's the narrative based disinformation styled logic and very obvious.. I will leave it there..

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

The alt right's outlets attract the 'west's' extremists plus keyboard warriors employed by governments in Moscow, Ankara, Beijing, Pyonyang and other nations trying to further undermine 'western' governments.

Again, no mention of the radical left.. If this is what it is.. than that explains a lot both from a radical left and alt right perspective.. I really hope majority of this is not local (US) but foreign in nature.

-5 ( +4 / -9 )

I'm not surprised by this and I'm not happy about this. Removing the app from google still leave the possibility of side loading and there will still be a website people can visit. Best to let the app exist, let people download it and log users who do.....like what Apple and Google have been doing the whole time.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Does this mean that if these companies do not like my telephone conversation, they can turn that off too? Can they deny me from making a call to a deemed radical left or right entity?

I consider myself politically homeless as a I like left and right ideas, but I def do not like what these companies are doing.

...I pay the police to do police work, I pay Apple for a phone.

0 ( +6 / -6 )

That's the narrative based disinformation

It's not disinformation if it's true. Trump and his Proud Boys have been inciting violence and practiced that last Wednesday. Didn't you see it?

Is 2ch or 4ch on the Store?

The night of the long knives, happens again, to a cheering crowd.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

Tiktok is still up right?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Personally, I hope my children can grow up in a world where all points of view are heard. Twitter & FB are behaving more like the CCP everyday.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

The night of the long knives, happens again, to a cheering crowd.

You do know what those sites are full of, don't you?

'course you do, having previously linked to dubious conspiracy nonsense.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/08/trump-incites-anger-among-acolytes-let-down-by-lack-of-support

Quite frankly, it's disgusting to see the far right twist history to fit in with their sick agenda.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

Google suspends Parler social networking app from Play Store; Apple gives 24-hour warning

Good. Send all the far-right haters and insurrectionists back under the rocks they crawled out of four year ago. They'll find other ways to spread their message of hate and intolerance.

Help erase the stench of the past four years from our history...

0 ( +6 / -6 )

Who is going to fact check the fact checkers?

clearly partisan elitism, I predict it will backfire

-1 ( +5 / -6 )

If you have to rely on Twitter or Facebook to validate your opinions in society, well....you’re an idiot.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Streisand Effect. Opinions, like noses, are ubiquitous and all different. Silicon Valley elitists are behaving like CCP. Trying to silence the 74M+ Trump supporters will backfire spectacularly. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Grab some tissues too Herve, because the era of being able to lie with impunity is coming to a close for the big man.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

It seems our Trump supporting friends forget it's against the law to go into a theater and yell "Fire"...

Hate speech, inciting violence, spreading conspiracy theories...all violate these platforms rules...

Go back to the fringes of the internet if you want to traffic in these...

Better yet, just go away...

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Haha they learned fast from China. This is exactly how CCP manages its internet.

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

It's not disinformation if it's true..

It's not disinformation but narrative based disinformation, all news is narrative based.. where-in you highlight some issue and downplay or simply do not report similar other issues.. i.e. only report 24*7 what suites your narrative.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

There's a difference between free speech and the spreading of dangerous false facts/news.

Absolutely..but how do you differentiate between free speech and false news.. who makes that decision .. and who gives the authority to those who make this decision?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

There's a difference between free speech and the spreading of dangerous false facts/news.

That is for the beholder to figure out for themselves, or else we end up living in a central government regulated environment such as they are now enjoying in Hong Kong thanks to their oversight from China, which exceeds even just paternalism.

As for twitter etc, these are private venues and they can (like JT) choose to censor as they wish, with whatever consequences for their operations.

Personally I am for free speech and individual responsibility.

Law and order enforcement have access to the same information as everybody else on these platforms.

The best way to shoot down misinformation is with more persuasive information.

As for inciting violence, this is a crime in many places, and if evidence can be produced that the President engaged in this then by all means prosecute him.

But the wrong response at this time is to go making ourselves more authoritarian like China. No. We must strengthen our resolve to maintain our legitimate freedoms.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Absolutely..but how do you differentiate between free speech and false news.. who makes that decision

It's not that hard to discern fact from fiction if you have some modicum of common sense or just try.

Unfortunately, large swathes of people have been susceptible to lies and misinformation for political gain. And the more they see of it, they more they want to see.

And they have started to claim that lies and BS should be given the same weight as proven facts, because 'they believe it'.

And when people try to give them good information instead of bad, they start to claim that that freedom of speech is being restricted or the CCP is Hunter Bidening them all.

When you can be trusted to objectively deal with obvious lies and misinformation then you may be allowed to have a peek at it again, but for now expect more restrictions. .

5 ( +5 / -0 )

There's a difference between free speech and the spreading of dangerous false facts/news.

Do tell us the difference from your point of view.

-6 ( +1 / -7 )

....google & apple are just trying to look ""good"" and cover their you know what's.

Or perhaps shut themselves down as well.

Look, I hate the fools & nut jobs on the right, left & middle for that matter, I think its better to keep things in the open than trying to ban etc because now in the digital age anyone or thing can just re-surface elsewhere.

Personally I have thought its best to just stay off social media as it will come back & bite your behind even if you are a little ole angel at some point, just sayin!

Trump can always use his billions and billions (ha ha ha) to finance the Trump phone. The Android system is open source and free and he can have the phone made in America (First) with bright red MAGA on the lock screen. It will have the Trump App Store with all the goodies like Parler and all that, as well as direct links to the Hannity and Alex Jones line. What's the problem, just get some engineers. Trump is good at business, so he should be able to do it as well as Steve Jobs

"Shouting **fire in a crowded theater"* is a popular analogy for speech or actions made for the principal purpose of creating panic. The phrase is a paraphrasing of Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.'s opinion in the United States Supreme Court case Schenck v. United States in 1919, which held that the defendant's speech in opposition to the draft during World War I was not protected free speech under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. The case was later partially overturned by Brandenburg v. Ohio* in 1969, which limited the scope of banned speech to that which would be directed to and likely to incite imminent lawless action (e.g. a riot). (Wikipedia)

5 ( +5 / -0 )

So-called free speech has consequences. You ARE free to say what you want but I am also free to take you down when you affect what I am doing or especially if you hurt my profits. If ISIS or some other radical Muslim or communist group had people posting violence against the West all day every day, all of the free speech advocates on this site would be up in arms and clamoring to have them banned.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

....google & apple are just trying to look ""good"" and cover their you know what's.

They'd better. The government is trying to make them libel for what people post on their platform. They have a HUGE "you know what" to cover as a result.

Ironically Trump's rhetoric pushed them to banning him to protect themselves.

Talk about serendipity.

"Apparently they believe Parler is responsible for ALL user generated content on Parler,"

Trump just spent the past few months trying to force that to be the law.

Parler is in a catch-22. Their platform is being used to promote the words of the man who is trying to change the law to one that will bring down their platform.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Parler is in a catch-22. Their platform is being used to promote the words of the man who is trying to change the law to one that will bring down their platform.

I just realized, this is the same position he had America in for the past four years. The position of the presidency was used by the man who was trying to bring down the country.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Again, no mention of the radical left..

Says the guy who never admits the faults of the radical right...

The radical left and woke culture is ridiculous. Cancel culture is regularly ridiculous and of no benefit to society.

The radical right and their campaign of hatred is dangerous. Right-wing extremists who stifle protest on social issues, and try to re-define the law towards their fascist ends are harmful to society.

I bet you would only be willing to publicly say one of the two things I just said. And you'd try to make them a false equivalence.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Apple are merely asking Parler to institute a moderation policy that prohibits direct threats of violence and calls to incite lawless action. They aren't even mandating a Twitter style moderation of flagging misinformation.

This isn't about curbing free speech - it's about the safety of the users of Apple's platform.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Trump has posted so many false facts and more than 20,000 lies. Many people can see through them but millions can not and actually believe every word he posts. Leading to the storming of the congress building and the killing of two people and the medical deaths of another three. There are 70 million+ Trump supporters believing the election won by Biden was a fraud.

The vanilla narrative based dis-information...

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Apple are merely asking Parler to institute a moderation policy that prohibits direct threats of violence and calls to incite lawless action..

Well by that logic..twitter should also institute a moderation policy for all the Jihadi types, Radical Left.. they are not calling for Peace,Love and Reconciliation..are they ? And speaking of twitter they even blocked NYPost when it broke the Hunter Biden story..i.e. you are only allowed one view point, that's it.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Private homes and businesses in America have never been under any obligation to accept speech they disagree with. The 1st Amendment only prevents the government from restricting free speech IN PUBLIC, but there are exception and that is speech that promtotes explicit calls to violence, sedition, insurrection, genocide, sabatoge of public works or facilities and racism.

Parlor is a good example of how anyone can start their own website without restriciton. The Apps and Play stores are under no obligation to offer their apps. The website is still NOT restrictied from offering apps through ITS own website.

To think or say that censorship is happening is to show either ignorance or support of things NOT accepted nor protected by law.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

And speaking of twitter they even blocked NYPost when it broke the Hunter Biden story..i.e. you are only allowed one view point, that's it.

I don't really use any social media that much. But since this is the case with Twitter and the other Hillary type media, Trump should start Trump media. Most of the technology is open source and Trump can hire engineers and make his own Trump smartphones with the Android open source OS, the Trump App store, and cloud infrastructure to host all these honest platforms such as Parler, Newsmax, OANN. Perhaps they could even resurrect NRA TV. Also, host Dlive which had a lot of rich content of the Pro-trump invasion of Washinton DC and you can be rewarded with "Lemons" that can be converted into real cash if you make good pro-Trump content that people like. Trump can do all this. He has a history of building empires from nothing. Don't fear and complain. BUILD [the new Trump empire]

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Unfortunately, large swathes of people have been susceptible to lies and misinformation for political gain. And the more they see of it, they more they want to see.

Not large swathes of people, everyone is susceptible to lies and misinformation for political or whatever again.. all news as you know is narrative based..

And they have started to claim that lies and BS should be given the same weight as proven facts, because 'they believe it

Sure..only thing is who manages the "proven facts".. those who do control the narrative..your comment is just a exmple of that narrative..

When you can be trusted to objectively deal with obvious lies and misinformation then you may be allowed to have a peek at it again, but for now expect more restrictions. .

But that does not apply to all.. and that's another way to put that only left view points will be allowed.. why the subtle disguise, just say is straight.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

When you can be trusted to objectively deal with obvious lies and misinformation

And that would be the mission of the new Trump media empire. Everything from smartphones to Apps to search engines. The Clinton News Network has been lying to the American public since its inception, and with other fake news platforms such as the "Failing" NY Times the only thing left to pursue the truth is the Trump Media Empire. Even FOX turned against Trump when they declared Arizona a Biden win (way way way before CNN). What do Trump people want to do? Complain for the rest of their lives about the Clinton News Network and the dishonesty of Twitter and other left social medial organizations that inspire Antifa and BLM? Or build a real honest platform to enrich Americans of the real truth of what's going on and how Trump is a great man? There has to be a choice.

If the Jihadi types have apps that have direct threats of violence and calls to incite lawless action, sure.

And speaking of twitter they even blocked NYPost when it broke the Hunter Biden story..i.e. you are only allowed one view point, that's it.

It's nothing about viewpoints. The images contained in the articles include personal and private information — like email addresses and phone numbers — which violate Twitter's rules.

At least of the Trump supporters was planning to kidnap Nancy Pelosi? I never heard of any BLM/Antifa members trying to do anything like that?

Oh, they were looking to literally hang Mike Pence.

The right told black people to stop protesting by kneeling at football games. "Then where should we protest?" they asked, and the right said "somewhere else".

They just shut down Parler. The right says "then where should we post?"

Somewhere else.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Nothing good is going to come from this. Is that why trump is not attending the inauguration?

It relieves the "patriots" of the need to worry about killing him by mistake during their assault.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Even sadder and more ominous is that your excellent post has received as many down votes as up votes. Why would anyone vote down what you said? It makes no sense to me.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The radical left and woke culture is ridiculous. Cancel culture is regularly ridiculous and of no benefit to society.

The Hollywood Blacklist, a result of McCarthy's "Red Scare" politics is the pentultimate example of cancel culture. Hundreds of actors, writers, directors and producers lost their jobs and their ability to work in their chosen career due to their political leanings.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

They just shut down Parler. The right says "then where should we post?"

Somewhere else.

That's the thing, the Parler users will pop up somewhere else in the blogosphere.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The best way to shoot down misinformation is with more persuasive information.

That can work with people who are not indoctrinated, but it's very difficult when people are brain washed into thinking it's true. You need to keep in mind these platforms of misinformation are funded by conservative billionaires. There is a tremendous amount of time and money put into hoodwinking these people. You almost need to use deprogramming methods used on former cult members.

It doesn't help that more mainstream news outlets like Fox News give quarter to some of the guests spouting the BS. And certainly they are prime features of Newsmax and OAN.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Even FOX turned against Trump when they declared Arizona a Biden win

So reporting the truth now becomes turning against Trump? Really? This speaks volumes about what is rotten in the US.

Parler can move to what's called the Siege Network where all the other really hard core alt-right sites reside.

Trump just needs to MIGA (Make the Internet Great Again).
