The next day, you call them back to make sure everything is all right.

If this was to ever happen, I wouldn't send anything, it is fairly easy to spoof that phone number for caller-ID, but it is far more difficult to actually intercept a call to that number.

I wouldn't wait to for the next day I would hang-up and immediately call the person that is supposedly calling me.

Basically call back using the registered number you have for them.

If it is a scam the real person will answer their phone and ask why you are calling.

Just ask them to call you on Skype or Facetime so you can see their face. Ask for their location or address. Don't send any money until confirming with the relative.

Too many people are getting caught in all kinds of scams and losing billions in the process.
