The James Webb Space Telescope fully deployed its tennis-court sized sunshield Tuesday, a critical milestone for the success of its mission to study every phase of cosmic history, NASA said.

Yesssss!!!

If a tenth of the budget used for crony capitalist and defense industry subsidies was used for space exploration instead think of the wonders.

Post Apollo and shuttle and Cold War era budgets, NASA has done yeoman's work in furthering space exploration.

This is magnificent science. I hope Japanese schools are following it to inspire their pupils.

It's been a long road, and apparently there's still a ways to go, but thank you SCIENCE!

This is magnificent science.

But even more magnificent engineering.

What a nail biter the sun shield deployment was! You look at the success of the several Mars rovers and the little Ingenuity helicopter and you have to be mightily impressed by the people at NASA JPL. They do the most amazing things nobody else in the world seems to match.

allowing the telescope's sensitive instruments to operate at -380F

That's -228C and 44K. (Sorry, but I had to check. I thought at first that was impossibly cold.)

I hope American schools do as well. They don't promoye things like this as much as they should. They just educate you so you can work for material gain and for the greater glory of those who never do. That and to OBEY them.

Everything in all eras of space exploration has influenced every facets of our lives. Everything from medicines, agriculture to phone networks to MTV, satellite 'Jack FM' radio, toys, smartphones and more.
