LITERALLY! Boy, are these folks unhappy!

It's pretty silly. I never got the appeal of Twitter. But I do enjoy watching how this whole debacle is unfolding. Anyone who thinks Musk hasn't been scrambling ever since he talked his way into buying Twitter as part of a Twitter spat, is avoiding reality and working only with idealism.

It's so much fun to see all the meltdown over Musk, and now he's killed their beloved little blue bird. There's a hilarious article on the BBC site today, 'Why Twitter’s rebrand to X feels 'shocking' to users'. Just to give a taster: 'Tech Reporter Casey Newton described Musk’s approach as owner of Twitter as “an extended act of cultural vandalism”.' And: “I think there was a true affinity for Twitter and the brand by their power users,” says California-based Orlando Baeza, chief revenue officer at Flock Freight, and a former marketing executive and branding leader at Buzzfeed, Paramount, Activision, Adidas and Nike. “This is a dramatic and unexpected turn. Their brand identity went from feeling warm and welcoming to dark and members-only. And to top it off, this all happened overnight. Literally.”

LITERALLY! Boy, are these folks unhappy!

Musk will be just fine, he should focus on other countries. No one should be doing business with the Chinese Communist government

It’s all BS and anti-Elon by the media. I’m sure he’s doing just fine.

Yes, he's very smart, and must no something us common plebs don't right? God works in mysterious ways, right? I mean, it couldn't be that he's not superhuman, and isn't actually good at running every kind of company, could it?

...could it?

Remember the fact that Musk never wanted to buy Twitter/X in the first place. The courts forced him to do this. What are the chances any roadmap Musk puts forward works out. What might happen is Micro$oft will buy X (then turn it back to Twitter fully) for pennies on the dollar for what Musk paid then MS owns it while Musk loses 10s of billions on his stupid adventure because of his ego. Also things need to be settled like all those severance packages and many many legal bills. Not looking good for Elon. All because he is thin skinned and can't let things go.

The buffoon can't even keep the X logo on his building (Doh, those darned municipal building codes! Foiled again!).

Becoming the payment app of choice (which would require a faith in the company that it "lacks" to put it delicately) seems a dubious proposition

The US dollar is crashing

It's value dropped on the world market a bit recently, but that was caused by reaction to its inflation numbers slowing.

There's no indication it's in serious trouble

The US dollar is crashing, without Musk's help.

140+ yen to the dollar.

THE world reserve currency.

No, it’s not crashing.

There are many theories. Some observers say he is seeking to crash the US dollar and restructure global finance. Others say he simply has no idea what he is doing.

The US dollar is crashing, without Musk's help.

Anyway, I noticed that the above article does not include anything about what Musk said about this subject; it only quotes critics. Musk did say what he's doing and why...

Where users will do all their finances as well as their socializing..............I am not and never have been a user of any social media platform, but if I was forced to choose one for my finances, the very LAST one I would choose would be one with Musk's name attached to it. I would rather keep my money in a pot under my bed.

Why is Musk so obsessed with the super-app?

There are many theories. Some observers say he is seeking to crash the US dollar and restructure global finance. Others say he simply has no idea what he is doing..

Hanlon's razor would clearly indicate the most likely explanation.

I made this suggestion a few weeks ago with Elon's obsession of WeChat and hence acquiring Twitter to turn it into a western WeChat.

Not that easy and could take decades if at all as WeChat is a lot more than Finacial, messaging app. Miles ahead.

Elon is clueless at what it takes to run companies like this after his takeover of Twitter.

There are not so many "unbanked" in the United States today and credit cards are accepted everywhere -- leading Schaefer and others to wonder why anyone would need to use Musk's app to pay for something.

Cybertheft can happen to any institution, but given Musk's track record with Twitter, I doubt that he is going to want to put in the effort and expenses to make sure that the app is secure enough to handle all of the issues that will surely arise. And he seems less willing than ever to listen to security and financial experts now. So not only would most people not even need an additional payment method, but I doubt most people would be willing to trust this particular app with their money and personal data.

Reason 1: Musk is an idiot who doesn’t know what he’s doing

9 ( +15 / -6 )

This "genius" has driven the revenue into the toilet and killed the brand after overpaying about $20 billion for it

Elon Musk is rebranding his Twitter platform as "X" and wants to create a super-app where users will do all their finances as well as their socializing.

That was always his endgame as I have always said, as his supporters on the right were talking about his love of freeze peaches.

Now I guess he wants a super-app to build data training sets for next-gen LLM, as they are running out of internet text.

Its mostly the latter.

A narcissistic personality like Elon should be nowhere close to the banking/finance industry nor should he play any part in monetary policy.
