it'll get very dirty in a year. I wipe my phone with wet paper every day.

But who buy a phone just to wash it ??? And we are at the age of changing smartphone yearly anyways so imho, this is just another gimmick useless ability that no one give a shit.

Considering people's phones are probably the dirtiest piece of equipment we own and use constantly with our hands daily, this is actually quite a big thing

The problem with Japanese Companies is selling their products only for domestic market. They will never get market share in world Mobile market or other products if the Companies are producing goods for domestic market only. Japanese Companies do not change their old idea. They should be sold it to the world-wide from website if the Companies do not have agent in other countries. The production cost will come down if they sell more their products. Peoples are longing for quality products Made in Japan but Japanese Companies are shy away from major consumers from world-wide.

The modern technology has made Companies easier to sell their products from home to the world today. Why Japanese Companies are scaring to take advantage over modern technology?

I don't get it...you can already clean your phone with any number of cleaners and an inexpensive microfibre cloth. What's the point?

Um, why would anyone want to wash their phone?! This is why Japan Inq. is losing out to other countries - giving what the companies 'think' customers want rather than finding out what them want and giving them that.

A smartphone that, when paired with another, creates a new and better (depending on parents' specs) model smartphone. The colour and settings being a mystery until birth.

Nope. Not the first one in the market. I've had my waterproof smartphone for almost four years by now. Dropped it in the bathtub (by mistake) a few times so I guess I could say it is washable. I have also put it under running tap water to clean it and it's still working totally fine.

Well that's just great.... now I can eat off my smartphone.

At a guess, because aside from figuring out how to manufacture phones without conflict materials, the Fairphone sounds like most of its challenges are business-oriented, and because it's manufactured in Amsterdam. Meanwhile this is a webpage about technological innovations in Japan.

I'm going to give you a "good" because I'm grateful for bringing it to my attention, but we really shouldn't be too surprised something off-topic isn't getting reported on here.

I would like to see a bio-degradable smart phone that I can flush down the commode. Can't think of a better place for them either.
