'Super Fan' prepares for Tokyo Olympics without overseas fans

Don't worry we'll all be attending the Olympics virtually, just like we've already been doing for everything else all year. Instead of complaining, residents of Japan should feel lucky they get a chance to attend in-person when they wouldn't otherwise.

I think If the Olympics were held in America, and they said Olympics are for Americans only. There would be so much backlash that they wouldn't even consider making that an option. But Japan think it's okay if they do it.

Theres been a virus called Covid 19 going around last year.

Actually they are moaning about their inability to host a normal proper Olympics.

Tamas a - Uncle Olympics made her his deputy ? They were both just spectators. He couldn’t resist having hierarchical roles in place just to watch people run ? Let’s watch a movie . I’ve seen it a few more times than you so you can be my deputy.

It's a neat story actually and she seems to be a level headed (and successful) lady.

She said she views the Olympics as a way "for children and young people to experience the importance of diversity and identity." She said that was her initial impression when she first entered Barcelona's Olympic stadium and saw "the energy created by the melting pot" of many different people.

"The opportunity to have that experience will be gone this time," she said. "I feel very disappointed."

I am of the opinion that the Olympics should be scrapped however I also feel sorry for Ishikawa san who cannot carry on her tradition this year.

Many of us have lost more than a year of our lives to this Pandemic, many have lost their livelihood, and some have lost loved ones.

Frankly speaking, in the grand scheme of life, the Olympics really do not seem that important now and there are alot of people who can use help now due to this dismal past year.

There are foreigners living here in Japan from all over the world, especially here in Tokyo.

Get in touch with the international schools, sports clubs and embassies and get them into those empty seats.

I do not share the same opinion. She sounds like a successful woman who has travelled and has some life experience to me and is probably self confident with her own identity beyond only the Olympics.

Ishikawa said she first met Yamada at a baseball game in Barcelona and served as his "deputy" ever since.

Yeah, coz when I go see a ball game I want hierarchical roles clearly defined or I just can't relax...

This is what she's built an identity on, the random chance to purchase a ticket to a ceremony?

Why not? Most people's lives have been heavily influenced by one or two seemingly trivial random events. If you think of your own life, it's probably the same. A friend suddenly had a free night because her boss's flight was late for a meeting, and suggested we go out to an event - I met my wife there. We have a family.

All because a friend's boss who I never met had his flight delayed.

Not a bad idea to fill part of these stadiums with children from the french schools in Itabashi, american schools in Minato, indian schools in Nishikasai etc

I do not know either as it does not appear she is asking for anything just expressing she is disappointed the Olympics will not be held in a normal way. That is it. Is this not allowed or is it now necessary to control thought?

I think the Olympics should be cancelled and have felt this way for a long time but can still have empathy for this woman.

It is sad and pathetic that people need to put her down for whatever reason.

People are assuming she is putting her desire to see the Olympics above public health. Which may or may not be true. It doesn't look like she was asked that specific question.

What is undeniable is that 80% of Japanese want the Games stopped. The Olympics may have superfans like this lady, and indeed, the world is a better place for having people with interesting characters, but she does not represent how Japan feels about the Games. Cancelling would bring relief, not sorrow.

The virus. We don't want to purposely infect all these kids with covid, do we? And for them to then infect their parents, etc.

If that wasn't a problem, then sure, why not. But sadly it just looks like the situation is getting more grim day by day..

British are more interested on their Pubs, their No. 1 destination this all year around.

I think Japan will be No. 1 Gold medalists this Olympics, at last.
