Japan has enough ‘indecisiveness’ resulting in ‘urging’ and more problems. They don’t encouragement from an ‘outside source’ to ‘wait a little longer’ and be even MORE indecisive.

To Me ,,From The point of health safety of people,,No Fans From overseas must be allowed to attend in Olympics..

Don't rush this, Japan. Most rational advice.

If public health and safety are top priority, the only sensible decision will be cancel the Olympics.

if they had started to vaccinate earlier in Japan then this wouldn't be an issue.

I wonder if Seb Coe is getting those nice brown envelopes full of cash from Dentsu, as they are like to do. If even some tourists are allowed, you know full well they will be the most healed and will be staying in the most expensive hotels and dining in the best restaurants. All things that will help the 1%!

Yes, no need to rush.

A decision in mid-July should be ok. Fans can wait. At worst, there will be TV for the fans. Fans will not bring the hoped money so they are not an important factor.

My true opinion is to do the Olympics with fans as usual, or postpone.

They will delay it and delay it until it’s too late.

then the 20% of elderly will die of new variants and the hospital system will totally collapse,

then armed police will patrol the streets to arrest anybody leaving their home for about one year.

London hotel occupancy rates actually dropped during the Olympics. The stadiums were packed with locals. This whole ideal of "foreign Olympic fans" is a myth. 50km walk, 10 M diving and small bore pistol shooting fans do not exist. As for golf, tennis or soccer? Who won the last Olympic soccer gold? Who cares?

The Olympic organizers refused to answer when asked how many overseas tickets had been sold. The reason being it would be an embarrassment after years of touting the HUGE receipts from tourists.

Come on Coe please DONT be a shill for IOC & NBC, you know athletes are well down the list on the Who is Important List!

Japan should have just come out & said NO to foreign visitors at this point, they are now allowing themselves to be pressured & create more dram where this topic should be history at this point!

Japan, if you backtrack on this, not only is it simply a bad decision but you will further tick off your populace!!

This is true. Normal tourists kept away, they were put off by the prospect of bigger crowds at popular sites and busier transport. Londoners were encouraged to take annual leave from work during the Games and many did, the Tube was much quieter as a result.

I have to admit that a less touristy London was much nicer for those living there.

Seb Coe - the same woke person who said that political protests at the Olympics are OK, in direct contravention of the IOC and the Olympic charter.

Surprised that he remembered that athletes are the number one client group - revealing the financial focus of these games - thought that they were participants.

He's a Tory. You make up your own mind.

Funny. Seb Coe's a Tory politician and a consummate Olympic insider, he's about as woke (whatever that means) as Donald Trump. Historically, the IOC has shown it has no problem with political protest, provided it's the right kind of protest.

Big business before the welfare of us common folk. Nothing new here, people.

Reports last week suggested the Japanese government is set to ban fans from abroad over fears of a rise in infections.

Or fans from abroad having fears of millions of Japanese people who have not been vaccinated yet. Or something like that......

To Me ,,From The point of health safety of people,,No Fans From overseas must be allowed to attend in Olympics.

Even vaccinated people?

Coe. A Tory. England aka the UK, an unmitigated disaster in terms of covid-19. He should be put back on the shelf.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

First, Mr Coe is Nike’s mascot and has lost all credibility long time ago. He has also forgotten he was an athlete once and has done next to nothing to help them.

second, the decision from the Tokyo organisers is already meaningless, as we are 4 months away from the games, organising ticket sales would be a mess, there are not enough flights and all foreigners have other priorities in their lives right now.
