How much longer will the J-Gov continue with their pro-nuclear energy propaganda? Are they blind?

11 ( +14 / -3 )

If the government is so keen on showing the world everything is hunky dory in Fukushima, then why not have the torch run go through all those fields where the nuclear waste is stockpiled, by the temporary shacks housing the displaced people still in limbo, and the Daichi nuclear plant?

13 ( +14 / -1 )

But it is a Nuked Wasteland.

10 ( +13 / -3 )

Will the politicians be participating? Lobbyists? Bureaucrats?

Didn't think so.

Nobody overseas will follow the torch relay.

Do Japanese follow when it is overseas? I am sure they don’t

Even Suga does not want to go to the start of his Olympics.

so sad to read these peoples nonsense, purposely living in denial out of self interest.

regretfully the fact is that Fukushima is nuclear wasteland and will remain so for a very long time to come.

the only thing going on their should be cleaning up of the nuclear site and decommission it.

How about spending the billions being wasted on a ghastly overpriced app ( see other story today) that is not even required, to clean up some of the mess. Obviously money to the cronies in Telecommunications is more important

Fukushima hopes Olympic torch relay will show world it is not 'nuclear wasteland'

A part of it is a ‘nuclear wasteland’ though. And if the suits get their way, parts of the Pacific Ocean may be too, shortly

Exactly!

But it is a Nuked Wasteland.

Exactly!

How much longer will the J-Gov continue with their pro-nuclear energy propaganda? Are they blind?

Yes. Blind with greed

This so sad how the govt & the olympics are USING the people & prefecture of Fukushima for their OWN SELFISH NEEDS.

Its just disgusting!!

And yeah very few outside Japan will even know anything about the torch relay, let alone it starts in Fukushima........again sad all round!

But it is...

Fukushima hopes Olympic torch relay will show world it is not 'nuclear wasteland'

How? Who's going to waste their time watching a meaningless touch relay?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Absolute madness. China's not the only country that's lying I see.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Majority of Fukushima prefecture is fine to go to.

Fukushima hopes Olympic torch relay will show world it is not 'nuclear wasteland'

Was going to say

But it is...

But Goodlucktoyou beat me to it.

This has a pretty bitter Potemkin village aftertaste. Let us present only the nice things, don't look over there at those huge metal tins with sea water inside, look rather at this cute mascot.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

as they are about to dump low level nuclear waste into the Pacific.

Disgraceful LDP old fools.

Fukushima hopes Olympic torch relay will show world it is not 'nuclear wasteland'

No, it is not. But it is a land filled by huge tanks containing radioactive cooling water!!! Are the torch bearers going to run along those tanks, I do not think so!!! They will run along some nice clean road with nice clean houses and flowering cheery trees and an ecstatic ever chairing flag waiving crowd, far far far away from those radioactive tanks that they plan to pollute the entire ocean with, along with all the sea life that you consume...

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Yes, of course, that will work. Not only living in a nuclear wasteland, but additionally happily holding corona virus superspreading events. A very clever image update, really. lol

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Didn't they get the memo...Olympics are not about restoration Fukushima (sadly), they are a symbol of victory over the Pandemic. That's why Billions have been diverted to NTT.

But all is not lost, Fukushima is about to get international attention once they start tipping all that radioactive waste into the pacific!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

If only the world outside of Japan was watching...

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It would be an interesting photo op if the runners wear radiation suits and respirators. And the Olympic flame is a glowing blue Cherenkov radiation.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

People lining the streets?

Gee, and here I thought we were in the middle of a pandemic.

Nuclear wasteland...pandemic wasteland...meh, the Olympics are little more than public relations posturing for governments and money laundering schemes for corporations and elites. Get athletes to donate the best years of their youth for a few crumbs and pennies, mix in a dose of national pride, and voila! The Olympics.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Have them run by the giant pile of radioactive water. That will convince them!

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Once again we are watching the J-Gov't fail. Japan is a disaster, the US is a disaster..Canada is looking better and better everyday!
