Sounds like an excellent facility with great care and coaches. The young gymnasts are not being sexually abused like those in the US were.

The big issue with these programs is that the athletes aren't trained for anything once they're outside the sport. All they're taught is the sport

Once their sports career is over, they don't have any other life skills - they either have to work somewhere within the sport, or be left outside in the world behind their work competition

The Li Xiaoshuang school, perhaps the best known facility, provides academic lessons for its boys and girls but the main focus is afternoon training in the large gym.

So not "all they are taught is sport"

They specialize in sport above all else, its called dedication.

Sure, that's what they also say with some US colleges that put sports above all else, but we know what happens to many "student athletes" who don't make it to the professional level
