wow, this is absolutely horrible... did they just took some schools uniform leftovers with leftover FA scarfs?

Nice. I like it a lot. Its a sporting uniform and it shows Japan's national colours well. But please - put the Paralympians in the centre and not to the side.

Good luck wearing pants and blazers in the summer of Japan.

Straight out of 1964.

@Joeintokyo

All aboard--we set sail soon.

Or "all aboard -- the plane will be departing the gate soon."

@TigersTokyoDome

Wheelchairs are traditionally used as group-photo bookends. You didn't know that?

Looks like they borrowed their idea for a uniform from JAL!

I don't hate it. It's not a bold choice but it's a choice.

Could be worse.

This is so sad.. kinda faceless inc approach.. Japan has wonderful, top notch fashion designers... instead we get somewhat office uniform with notes of airport stuff... tell me which else Japan does this style represents?...

The national color of....navy. Riiiiight....

Dude, while this DOES look like Something out of Gilligan's Island, it's not THAT bad. Maybe you forgot Japan's Olympic uniforms for Sydney?

Love... exciting and new

come aboard

we’re expecting you...

A simple question, but did disabled people design and manufacture this? A lack of job opportunities is a problem faced by the disadvantaged in society.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

Nice look, but Kinda hard to sprint and do hurdles in those though. May I recommend the Kanon uniform - red long shirt with white capelet...and of course a bigaz bowtie?

They look like JAL cabin attendants.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

right, jal cabin attendants jumped to my mind, specially the weird scarf thingie ... have to admit.. JAL business does bring the negativity in me... ,they should have stolen ANA outfits instead

I hope they will be in air conditioned rooms.

that is so hot in humid summer weather.

Typical of Aoki! That company has a Showa feel to it. Uniqlo could have done a better job.

Are these uniforms supposed to be for athletes? They look like little princes and princesses.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

White trousers and skirts - no. I hope athletes can choose which they want to wear. Those scarves the women are wearing are horrible. It's all very old fashioned and ugly.

I bet 'muricas designs are straight from the future, right?

Let’s meet at the flight attendant’s country club!

What happened to the sailor uniforms

They put the wheelchair dudes by the side!!! Wtf!!

At least both Able-bodied Olympians and Disabled(Para)-Olympians are both having to wear the same "Uniform"... that is on the Plus side - no distinction...

At least, when they compete, they won't have to wear those Uniforms - so the best of luck to them all.

All Para-Athletes deserve admiration for overcoming both the mental & physical challenges, of not only participating in, but competing, in a Global Sporting event. So best of luck to them all!

Sad, outdated, pedestrian and so damn generic. Absolutely faceless and a bit juvenile too. I'd be embarrassed to wear threads like this, feeling like a drone.

Note: The blue blazer ensemble above is the 'alternate' uniform, Japan Today is unclear in that. In the second paragraph though it does mention the actual Opening Ceremonies uniform, which is a white blazer with red pants.

Take a look here: In my opinion it's not much better, it looks like something more akin to a 3 hour tour on a boat than the Olympics, but whatever.
