But he will still serve the ball on the orders of his corporate masters.

Whether Nishikori san serves the ball or not it is very telling that he came out with this statement (and courageous I would imagine).

“I don’t know what they are thinking, and I don’t know how much they are thinking about how they are going to make a bubble, because this is not 100 people like these tournaments,” Nishikori said after winning his first-round match at the Italian Open on Monday.

“It’s 10,000 people in the village. So I don’t think it’s easy, especially what’s happening right now in Japan. It’s not doing good. Well, not even (just) Japan. You have to think all over the world right now.”

So, so true Nishikori san and coming from a world class and great Japanese athlete.

This speaks volumes.

Respect to him (which I already had before this) for speaking his mind whether he serves one up in the Olympics or not.

I am surprised. Pleasantly surprised by this courageous stand from him. And anyone who knows the Japanese sports administration will know this is indeed courageous. I applaud him. He has gained a lot of maturity in the past few years.

thank you Nishikori San. I salute you

Don’t be afraid tennis stars. I know many may have concerns due to the Covid Conspiracy theorists who wants us all in lockdown and vaccinated.

It will be one of the safest places on the planet. Let’s enjoy the events and see dreams come true

Whenever Nishikori makes some sort of statement in English, I always have to rely upon the Japanese subtitles to understand what he's saying.
