I think this will be one of the safest World Cups ever. Russia's a police state. It has huge numbers of uniformed and undercover police that will be on duty throughout ready to quell disturbances.

Russia, like most other nations, has virtual armies of football hooligans. But many of them are controlled by one of the oligarchs, so it's unlikely they'll cross their oligarch's master in the Kremlin, who's given orders to keep things peaceful in his attempts to re-brand Russia in the world's eye. The oligarchs aren't willing to risk losing their controls over the industries and regions he's granted them; they'll do what they're told. I've heard as a threat to hooligans that any who break ranks and cause problems will have their steroid supply cut off.

The IS propaganda arm began posting social media pictures at the end of last year showing superstars such as Lionel Messi and Neymar dressed in the orange suits used for videotaped executions.

The message accompanying the images was explicit: "You will not enjoy security until we live it in Muslim countries."

This doesn't make sense. ISIL don't want independent Muslim countries, they want a Caliphate ruled by one Muslim leader. Somebody at the CIA is getting chewed out over this.

About the hooliganism, it will never make sense to me and probably a lot of other Americans. But, I guess it's better than another European war between these countries. The global deep state will do anything to discredit Russia, even going so far as fake nerve gas poisonings.

Thank heavens for that. Can they hold it in Russia every time?

I totally agree.

I think I'm with Russia on this one. Protect the property and people. In many western countries hooligans destroy property and clash with police. Its like civilization temporarily downgraded to barbarous times. With all the cameras, I'm hoping that each and every bad attendant will be forced to pay for damages or better yet, be forced to come back and fix it, apologizing to the owners.

If being drunk doesn't excuse drunk driving, and being caught up in the spirit of the crowd doesn't excuse gang rpe, it shouldn't excuse hooligans destroying property of homeowners and businesses.

Why don’t you want LGBT people at World Cup matches? I have no problem with rainbow flags or LGBT people. I don’t get the problem.

The next World Cup is in Qatar. They are even more intolerant of homosexuality. Perhaps you’d like Qatar rather than Russia to hold it every time.

Sure, why not? Hold it anywhere were the SJW agenda won't be in my face 24/7.

@Civitas

The death penalty is on the books for homosexual acts in Qatar.

Sorry, just a minor detail in the bigger picture of seeing those terrible rainbow flags or the disturbing idea of LGBT people watching football matches.

Execute away. Give them every World Cup.

A member of Russia's lower parliament, Tamara Pletnyova, warned against having sex with foreigners, specifically foreigners of a different race.

English soccer player Danny Rose told his family not to come to Russia to see him play due to fears of racist violence.

And so it goes...
