They vowed to do it eventually so let it happen.

I agree. At some point things just have to open back up.

rather than just having speculation about what will happen if they do preventing anything from happening. Lives and economies cannot be put on hold indefinitely.

Meanwhile, Jacinda Adhern has stated smugly she is fine with having created second class citizens in the form of “the unvaccinated”.

NZ - keeps eye on it. It’s becoming an authoritarian nightmare.

Covid zero policy down the tubes. Guess they need the tourism money.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Sounds like it’s not just tourism money but this inhumane situation mentioned of people being unable to travel to be with family: “Local media regularly carry reports of Kiwis unable to visit dying relatives or facing family crises”

Wow, gotta feel for those people.

Japan was slow with its vaccine rollout but New Zealand’s approach seems a real foot dragged. Well done for having such a low rate of deaths, but one has to feel for the families effected as collateral damage from the policy.

There are no solutions, only tradeoffs, said a great economist…

90% Vaccination will not happen when there are so many half wits there that think the govt has put the boogie man in it.

What's wrong with creating second class citizens out of people who choose to be second class citizens?

They already hit 88% first vaccination so will reach 90% quite comfortably I think.

To be fair, I believe NZ is ahead of Japan with regards to vaccinations, but yes, it was certainly very slow start.

Oh yeah no racism or discriminatory behavior has ever been supported by such a way of thinking,

"They" chose this. "They deserve this". What could go wrong when you start with this?

"This group" is a substandard group to "my superior group" A quite slippery slope that history has shown us ends poorly for all.

They are not being discriminated against because of their race, only their illogical, unhealthy choices.

" They deserve this....?" Well, yes they do... Sadly.

lol Not at all. You don't chose your race, ethnicity, or birthplace. You can, however, choose not be vaccinated, putting not only yourself, but others at risk. Discrimination happens all the time. How many short people are on basketball teams? How many skinny sumo wrestlers are there? Funny you'll never hear complaints about that.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Funny you aren’t for equality, equity and diversity.

but rather in support of groups of people being made “second class citizens” for simply not doing what a government dictates them to do.

And discrimination? nothing you can do ah well, too bad, right?

Vaccine mandates have a disproportionate negative impact on the poor, minorities and indigenous peoples.

It’s a conveniently disregarded fact by leftists.

So does getting covid.

lmao Why do you think that is?

They don’t get it. But that’s the way it goes historically too.

So does getting covid.

Agreed. So does a lack of socialized healthcare... but they're only worried about the poor, minorities and indigenous peoples when it suits their argument.

People keep whining about discrimination here.

Discrimination based on what people are stinks.

Discrimination based on what people think or do is what normally functioning people do.

Imagine you are a job interviewer and the interviewee tells you his or her hobby is watching flat earth, faked moon landing, Holocaust denial, election fraud and QAnon videos on YouTube. They also enjoy creating sock puppet accounts on social media.

Would that person score points with you as the interviewer?

Nobody is saying we should lock these people up or exterminate them. They made a choice in a public health emergency and they may have to live with the consequences of that choice in certain areas and situations.

Welcome to the adult world. Choices have consequences.
