pessimistic media coverage of his handling of the pandemic

The pandemic is the biggest event since WW2. More than 150,000 Americans dead, more than 4,000,000 sickened, an economy in shambles with few signs of it recovering any time soon - if ever, millions out of work, and Trump doesn't want to hear about.

Maybe if he'd spend less time on the golf course and tweeting C list celebrities, maybe if he hadn't appointed people like Jared Kushner and Pence to major roles in fighting the pandemic... but it's too late for that now.

Under Trump's 'watch', the country continues to sink. But as long as Trump, his family and his fellow 'elite' are fine,

he can't be bothered.

The only thing that's truly 'pathetic' is the so-called 'leadership' from the West Wing.

28 ( +29 / -1 )

Pathetic. Sums up the last 4 years under this criminal administration.

29 ( +30 / -1 )

an economy in shambles

Thanks to the largely Democrat lockdowns. And economies ALL OVER THE WORLD have been hit by the virus from China and the lockdowns.

Pathetic.  Sums up the last 4 years under this criminal administration

What crimes have been committed? Be specific. I can list crimes committed by the previous administration but that would be off topic.

This administration is a clown car

16 ( +16 / -0 )

Thanks to the largely Democrat lockdowns.

It's easy to forget that in the US nearly all the wealth is created in Democrat States, so if they suffer, the whole country's economy suffers too.

Fauci's typically hard-nosed assessments of the disease's progress regularly counter more rosy versions promoted by the president.

So does the data.

And YouTube is now of videos of idiots in Walmart refusing to wear masks as if they are fighting for freedom instead of being selfish babies.

With deaths running at about 1000 a day, looks like we will pass 250,000 deaths before the election. A very sad milestone and a number that will define Trump's presidency.

"So Crazy Nancy Pelosi said

I don't agree with everything Pelosi says. But this coming from an illiterate clown who has wrecked America is ridiculous.

Trump lackey turns on him. They've taken an oath for disinformation and lies, but some just begin to feel guilty for knowingly spreading further wrong information. Others can't turn on him for all the wrong reasons, they're complete fools.

Our stupid president weakens the nation daily, and this is one more name calling tweet by him that does nothing, except contribute to his losing the coming election in a landslide.

It's a race to save America's life from his idiotic presidency, as the election can't come soon enough with his poor decision making leading to a massive spread of the coronavirus in the United States.

The magic virus fairies did not do as Trump said...the virus didn't just go away as he claimed it would. It's not just the flu, hydroxychloroquine cannot be injected and the summer months didn't lessen the spread, it got inexorably worse, under his lack of leadership.

Trump's been inept at everything, but the coronavirus is the one thing that affected all Americans, and killed many. It'll be a big part his legacy as the worst president ever, but there are so many things he's ruined for America, it'll be just one of many things that will show his incompetency as president.

"Deborah took the bait & hit us. Pathetic!"

That is a telling statement about Donald Trump's values. It isn't about the country or its people. It's about him and those close to him at the White House. 3 November cannot come fast enough but that may only be the beginning of yet another drawn out and incredibly painful national crisis.

11 ( +11 / -0 )

I guess none of you saw what Nancy Pelosi said about Dr. Birx last week?

Kinda ruins your story of outrage.

-17 ( +1 / -18 )

"Trump lackey turns on him"

Well, no. Dr. Birx was an Army physician from 1980 to 2008 advancing to the rank of Colonel. From 2008 through 2014 she served as the Director of the CDC's Division on Global Health. In 2014 then President Obama nominated her to be the US Global Aids Coordinator after a confirmation voice vote of the US Senate, a position she still holds. It was in late February of 2020 when Vice President Pence recruited her to be the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator. She is someone who has spent 40 years in public health first in the US Army and later as a civilian and has served six different Presidents of both parties. Considering her position with the CDC she could hardly refuse to serve the nation during a pandemic of epic proportions. A public servant doesn't get to chose their Presidents but they take an oath to serve their country and to protect and defend the laws of the US and its Constitution. I would never disparage her service. She has had to walk a tightrope. And worst of all, someone in her position should never have to worry that stating a scientific truth on a matter of public health will get her crossways with politicians of either party.

It was her decision to side with Trump and throw out disinformation. Completely her responsibility. It has nothing to do with disparaging her service, and her experience should have told her from the beginning to not spread scientific disinformation, of which she did.

"Deborah took the bait & hit us. Pathetic!" he tweeted.

And yet another instance of Trump being petty; thinking of only his ego before the public's health. Who would you all believe, a two-bit swindle, draft dodger who would rather check tweets and visit the golf club links, or a dedicated expert in the field of heath and pandemic response?

All Trump wants is for people to believe in what he believes in, even if it's a lie. He doesn't care one bit about Americans' health or lives. All he cares about that people love him, and that people follow what he says (not exactly what he always does). If you think in a certain way that doesn't fall in line with the way he thinks, he'll fire you, get revenge on you, or call you names and drag your name through the mud. Sheesh! I know many kids who have more maturity than Trump.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Thats not what Nancy said about her.

I also didnt hear anyone criticize Nancy's comments as being inaccurate.

or a dedicated expert in the field of heath and pandemic response?

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

"Deborah took the bait & hit us. Pathetic!" he tweeted.

Another round of pathetic lying by this sorry excuse of a president.

The disaster he has unleashed don this country seems no sign of waning and he is taking victory laps on a delusion that only he and like minded bigots can see.

Dr. Birx lost her credibility when she sat silently while trump was suggesting microwaving ourselves before injecting disinfectants. Unfortunately for her she will be known for her silence rather than anything she ever said.

"It was her decision to side with Trump and throw out disinformation. "

You still don't get it do you? She is a life long public servant. As such they are expected to be non-partisan. In her position as a Director with the CDC she could not refuse to lead the corona virus effort. It is this administration that has made the pandemic a political matter, forcing her to walk a very fine line and couch every word she says lest she end up like Alexander Vindman. Not her fault at all. She is trying to serve her nation under an administration that values making the orange jesus look good more than it values the truth or honest public service. Heck, honest public service is disparaged as "deep state". But keep in mind someone of her stature with the CDC could not refuse to serve their nation during a crisis of this proportion. It is what you train your whole life for. More than that it is what the nation trains these people for so when there is an emergency there are people with the right skills to lead. If she is fired or sidelined she can do nothing for the nation. You give her no credit whatsoever but you have no idea the tightrope public servants all through the Federal service are expected to walk these days with a President like Donald Trump and his political appointees looking for "disloyalty" everywhere. Both Nancy Pelosi and the President were completely out of line. The both owe her an apology.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Amazing how nothing is ever Trump's fault according to some people. Even the master of bs himself has met his match with a pandemic that has killed more than 150,000 people in the US in less than months. That's about 1,000 people a day, every day. Beyond shocking. Not even Trump can put a positive spin on that. What a pathetic non-leader he is. It's sad that it has taken so much death due to incompetence to make some people understand what sort of idiot is in power in the US. November 3 can't come soon enough. Poor Biden is going to spend the next 4 years apologizing for his predecessor's stupid decisions (though Trump's push back on China is about the only thing of merit that he has done).

8 ( +8 / -0 )

It's also just wrong. Period. Hard stop.

Reminds me of arguments in primary school: "Full stop. Argument over. No more words. End of everything."

Then again, we were seven or eight years old....

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Pathetic! Of course she's pathetic....

Anyone that works for our Mega-Moron President that is an acknowledged expert, speaks in full sentences, has credibility, but most importantly, is more popular than he is deserves our pity....

The American public listens to Dr Fauci and Dr Brix.....Trump listens to Dr Immanuel and her Aliens, demons, witches, and lizards...

@Blacklabel

I guess none of you saw what Nancy Pelosi said about Dr. Birx last week?

Kinda ruins your story of outrage.

Yeah, I saw it. Did you? Here's a link. Check it again. She said she doesn't have confidence in someone (Birx) who "stands there" while the president advises people to drink bleach, and criticised her "enabling" him in his disinformation.

https://edition.cnn.com/videos/politics/2020/08/03/nancy-pelosi-lack-of-confidence-in-dr-birx-sot-nr-vpx.cnn/video/playlists/this-week-in-politics/

Who knows? Maybe Birx saw that too, and it pricked her conscience, because she finally had the nerve to contradict her boss. She's a scientist. It's her job to deal in facts. Now that she actually stands up and does her job for once, the orange chimp can't take it.

You could accuse her of having been quite pathetic in the past, but if she commits herself to continuing to present the facts, as she has finally done this time, she may not come out of this in total disgrace (although obviously she won't keep her job for long if she keeps showing an interest in telling the truth).

11 ( +11 / -0 )

The opening of this article really hit the nail on the head. Trump is just annoyed because he found her words "pessimistic". Trump is like a guy who says the football team lost the game because the cheerleaders were not "peppy" enough. If only they had cheered harder and better, surely the game would have been won! Its hard to believe that people who think like that have survived to breed, but they did and they are legion.

Of course, I don't know if Trump actually believes Covid 19 will be beaten through the power of pure positive thinking or if he is just playing to his dim-witted, cheerleader base or what.

Thats not what Nancy said about her.

What an opposition leader says about a member of an administration isn't all that newsworthy I'm afraid. It raises a few serious questions when what her boss says about her is even worse.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

So Nancy criticizes her job performance and competency. You agree and celebrate it. Birx is terrible!

Trump simply says its pathetic that she seems to have suddenly made a very pessimistic statement that seems timed only in response to the Pelosi criticism.

Then you criticize Trump for that? Yes, I would call out one of my workers for the same thing, certainly. You dont change your medical based narrative just because the political opposition criticized you.

Birx is great now, so brave! Until the next time she says something that doesnt serve the Pelosi interests.

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

The pandemic is the biggest event since WW2. More than 150,000 Americans dead, more than 4,000,000 sickened,

Maybe you should research about political agenda, health care for rich, evangelical Christians, ineffective political state vs. federal policy, mass house arrest of citizens, confusing public health recommendations, lies about vaccinations that take at least 10 years...ok I give up.

(don't wear a mask unless it is important. Social distancing, regular hand washing, don’t touch your face. Stay home if you are sick.)

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@Blacklabel

You agree and celebrate it.

I don't celebrate it. The topic was raised, she responded. It was a perfectly justifiable point to make... stating the obvious, basically. Nothing to celebrate.

No one actually knows whether or not Birx's comments would have been any different if Pelosi's interview hadn't taken place. Only Birx herself could tell you that. But Pelosi's criticism was that Birx didn't correct Trump's dangerous nonsense, not that she didn't tell the truth when given a chance to do so. Two different things.

My guess is she would have answered the same way, regardless of Pelosi's comments. She was asked by the interviewer to describe the situation, so she did. (You disagree, obviously). Trump saw a chance to distort what was actually taking place to deflect blame from himself again. One of the few things he's good at.

So Nancy criticizes her job performance and competency. You agree and celebrate it. Birx is terrible!

...

Birx is great now, so brave! Until the next time she says something that doesnt serve the Pelosi interests.

Who said these things? Who are you referring to?

Anyone else feel like it’s always high school drama with this guy?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Porr trump and his supporters. They're the real victims here, as ever...

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump loves loyalty, but hates being loyal.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Loyal to Putin. Victim in chief that is.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Anyone else feel like it’s always high school drama with this guy?

I'd say it's more like kindergarten drama. Pacifiers being thrown across the room, pooing in old diapers, tears and tantrums while pouting and folding one's arms.

Somebody get the bowl of mashed potatoes again, please!
