The level of elderly citizens and the chronically sick in the UK coupled with the advent of winter always mean more deaths.

Stopping people from meeting will do little to change anything...

Its surprising with Brexit, that so many suddenly forgot about the Pandemic, and put going on Holiday to Europe above everything else.... AND furthermore that the Government let them! So seeing an increase in Virus cases is not surprising really.

What should have happened, is that island Britain should have gone into total lockdown - a bit like New Zealand did. At least, doing so, would have been consistent with the desire to cut ties with Europe.

Boris Alexander de Pfeffel Johnson, PM = another egregious example of the ancient warning: be careful what you wish for! Of course, Tories and their enablers will tie themselves into a pretzel to escape blame by reminding voters how much more death there would have been under Jeremy Corbyn, PM. No matter, a long, dark winter of discontent awaits the denizens of the UK, perhaps now in its final days before Brexit bombs and Scotland bales.

The UK needs organised leadership at a time like this. Johnson is a liability.

One ray of hope is the reported discontent at Johnson throwing away a huge lead over Labour and his hidings at PMQs. The Tories are vicious in getting rid of leaders.

In para 5 they describe the measures as a 'circuit break', and in the the second-to-last as a 'firebreak'. Both good expressions, I reckon.

The U.K. flu vaccine programme has started, free to all this year. My sister and her husband has theirs yesterday. I only hope others take them up, Covid and flu at the same time will be catastrophic.

Testing shows that the virus clusters are currently due to pubs, socialising at home and schools. Covid is here, closing pubs early won’t change much and shutting them tanks the economy. The rule of six is unenforceable and people will ignore it at Christmas. Children need to go to school. The government must make protecting the vulnerable and key workers the priority and get a grip on testing and tracing. Sacking Dido Harding would be a good start.

Remember this past July when so many Brits went partying unprotected like it was 1999? People were going out and getting slushed like nobody's business.

This authoritarian overreach in some countries looks more like poiticians getting drunk on power rather than any rational response to any virus.
