So, the wealthy and privileged are able to murder without recourse in the 21st century?

Not really anything we don’t already know or have suspected.

If GOPer Lindsey Graham sez so, I for once am ready to believe that ole baccy-chewin' peckerwood: MBS is the unhinged smokin' gun fer sure!

I am old enough to remember when Mohammed bin Salman bragged about having Jared Kushner "in his pocket."

Follow the money. trump and his crime family won't lift a finger against bin Salman because they want and need that sweet sweet Saudi cash flowing in.

'Individual 1' once again won't accept the findings of the US intelligence agencies, even though his appointments are leading them.

Trump watched Putin high fiving Mohammed bin Salman in front of his nose.

Curious that Trump is alleged (go Mueller!) to have business dealings with both murdering despots. (Curious that both are leaders of oil and gas cabals.)

If Trump would release his most current tax info, the world might learn whether he's beholden to Putin and MbS, among other global syndicate leaders, in any way.

Yes, which makes it more imperative that e keep this relationship, less we want the Saudis to completely deal with the Russians and that would be bad security wise, economically wise, geopolitically bad overall.

*Curious that Trump is alleged (go Mueller!) to have business dealings with both murdering despots. (Curious that both are leaders of oil and gas cabals.)*

Ok, and where is the crime, especially when Trump was a businessman.

If Trump would release his most current tax info, the world might learn whether he's beholden to Putin and MbS, among other global syndicate leaders, in any way.

That would solve anything, it will just perk up and arouse curious Trump hating critics. His tax returns won’t put food on people’s tables, create jobs, solve the border crisis and fix the problems the US has with Russia or China.

The only thing new about the Trump administration is it's pulled the mask off entirely. America has always been in bed with some of the world's most horrid regimes--hell, we installed a good number of them to make sure they remained friendly to our interests. Most in congress just want to be able to condemn such human rights abuses while the real business of empire (bipartisan) goes on unchecked. That's why the bungling of the Khashoggi execution is so inconvenient. Imitating Captain Renault at this late date is laughable: "I'm shocked, shocked to find that the murderous thugs we've supported all these years are in fact murderous thugs!"

And it doesn't stop at arms sales or oil either. Like Israel, the Kingdom purchases enormous PR and lobbying efforts from Washington's most connected:

Wiki:

Since 2015, the Saudi Arabia paid $18 million to 145 registered lobbyists to influence the U.S. government.

A partial list of lobbyists that have been paid by Saudi Arabia to lobby for the Kingdom: the Podesta Group, founded by John Podesta and Tony Podesta, the Glover Park Group, former Senator Norm Coleman, H.P. Goldfield, vice chair of Madeleine Albright’s Albright Stonebridge Group, the BGR Group, the Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, the Squire Patton Boggs, the DLA Piper, the Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and the Qorvis/MSLGroup.

Saudi Arabia might think about removing those scimitars on its flag and replace them with bone saws, cause that's what people see now.

If we don’t someone else would. Someone else’s loss in another persons gain. Sad, but ugly reality. Has always been like that and will always be like that. This is the world of politics.

It deserves a stronger response than Trump getting up in front of the cameras and pretending to be stupid. He promised a tough response if the evidence was there and then gets up and gives his, "Golly, I'm not convinced" act. Save it for your spineless base; don't talk to everyone else like we are stupid or afraid of speaking out.

Countries have friction all the time, even with allies. A response is warranted. Trump should stay on the sidelines and let Congress take the lead if he doesn't have the guts.

The Trumpets who harp on how important the Saudis are for our national interests need to understand that Donny gives two hoots for anything other than his own interests.

As we are finding out his business and politics are so deeply intertwined its difficult to figure which one is which.

Meanwhile the Saudis and Russians give each other high fives and lau

Looks like GOP legislators actually have a few more scruples and principles than the average Trump apologist.

7 ( +8 / -1 )

Ok, and where is the crime, especially when Trump was a businessman.

You'll have to wait for the answer to this like the rest of us.

That would solve anything, it will just perk up and arouse curious Trump hating critics. His tax returns won’t put food on people’s tables, create jobs, solve the border crisis and fix the problems the US has with Russia or China.

So, you don't care of the president is a criminal.

Not really anything we don’t already know or have suspected.

The 500-pound gorilla in the room is Israel, specifically Netanyahu and the Likuds.

They’re closet allied with the Saudis, hence so is Trump, who took $12 million of Sheldon Adelson’s money and became beholden to his “Israel First” foreign policy as a result.

The lesson here: don’t take anyone’s money if you run for office. It’s the surest way to become a puppet.

If you showed Trump a video of the prince stabbing Khashoggi and then cutting him up, Trump would still say, "Nope, I'm still not convinced that the Crown Prince did was involved."

4 ( +4 / -0 )

It would not matter who was President, it has all to do with the petrodollar and how it keeps the dollar as the world's dominant currency!

Also, @u_s__reamer, how about you stop with racist, classist remarks, I have been called a "peckerwood" and take offence to the word!

So, the wealthy and privileged are able to murder without recourse in the 21st century?

As they have done in EVERY century and will continue to do unfortunately.

Ok, and where is the crime, especially when Trump was a businessman.

If Trump would release his most current tax info, the world might learn whether he's beholden to Putin and MbS, among other global syndicate leaders, in any way.

Well, there you have it folks! The conservative "take" on matters. The Saudi Prince can now have a license to kill permanent residents of the US, and probably American citizens, or anyone ELSE for that matter, and NOT ever worry about it! Why? Because MONEY trumps (pun intended) MORALITY, and this from the party of conservative VALUES, folks. Seriously, this is like something out of "Twilight Zone" as it is so absurd. But some views mock our humanity.

You'll have to wait for the answer to this like the rest of us.

So it probably won’t come.

So, you don't care of the president is a criminal.

There is nothing that indicates he’s a criminal whatsoever, if he’s fingerprinted and in the system, incarcerated, I won’t argue with you, now if you think in your personal opinion, he’s a criminal, you have that right, in my opinion there are many, many Democrats that I feel are criminals.

Not really anything we don’t already know or have suspected.

suspected or surmised is correct.

Turkey has been extracting exquisite pleasure by their 'wait for it', and drip feed of explosive recordings to all and sundry. They are really enjoying twisting the knife into the US who refuse to extradite preacher Fethullah Gulen who they would really like to murder in turn. As a golden bonus each time they seriously embarrass Saudi Arabia with whom they vie for power in the region. From the inescapably superb quality and clarity of the recordings taken inside the Saudi embassy, it would be hard not to imagine the hand of Russian special services behind Turkey in this. Everything feels as though going to the Russian plan, or is that simply too good to be true?

Meanwhile in Yemen...

So it probably won’t come.

There is no logical connection between the need to wait for an answer and the answer coming. Yoinks.

There is nothing that indicates he’s a criminal whatsoever,

Uh, nobody is disagreeing, which is why I said you'd have to wait for that answer like the rest of us. Yoinks.

if he’s fingerprinted and in the system, incarcerated, I won’t argue with you,

You'd be leading the chorus of Trump supporters screeching about how Trump is innocent but the Deep State, biased judiciary, and corrupt law enforcement framed him.

now if you think in your personal opinion, he’s a criminal, you have that right, in my opinion there are many, many Democrats that I feel are criminals.

Youve repeatedly demonstrated how valuable your opinion is.

"Looks like GOP legislators actually have a few more scruples and principles than the average Trump apologist."

Yep, 2 out of 53, one of whom is retiring next month, really instills confidence in their integrity...

Well, couldn't agree more expat. Conservatives are always bought off. They vote not for the people who voted them in, but for their sponsors. and Trump is so stupid that when he was raging against GM (such a worker's guy!! Lol) he didn't even know that his last tax bill made it easier for GM to move their plants from Illinois or Ohio to Mexico, and still get that 3.00 an hour slave wage in to boot! Conservatives are idiots, especially the ones on food stamps and chanting Trump, Trump, as they lose their jobs.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

stormy: "Trump would still say, "Nope, I'm still not convinced that the Crown Prince did was involved."

No, he wouldn't, his English is better than that.

By the way, guaranteed neither Obama nor Clinton if they were president would do anything to jeopardize relations with the Saudis or cancel multi-billion dollar business deals over Saudis killing another Saudi outside the U.S.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Not sure what all the complainants want exactly. A regime change in Saudi Arabia? Firstly, they are not going to pul that off, and secondly whoever replaces Mohammed will be worse. In the event, what almost all the talking heads are missing is that Kashogi was muslim brotherhood operative who was working on undermining the Saudi monarchy. And meanwhile, we are as addicted to Saudi oil as ever.

I would really like to see some actual reasonable thought from the mainstream press, insteady of hysterical pointless propaganda. Well, unrealistic I know.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Sorry, Trump doesn't do human rights. Only money. Classic crime syndicate values.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Lets see. The US murders an islamist agitator in his bedroom in a foreign country, and politicians line up to take credit, and the media swoon over the murder.

Saudi Arabia murders an islamist agitator in their embassy, and the media and NPCs are huffing and puffing and demanding punishment.

Double standards anyone?

Oh yes, and any gullible who believes the label "journalist" for Kashoggi without reading up the actual history of the guy would be advised to do some homework.
